Boston/Philly slappies (TOR too). Just because we say the East sucks doesn't mean your teams do. The projected 4th seed ITE wouldn't have made the 9th seed in the West this year, and the West dealt with a shedload of injuries.. Mediocrity ITW is rewarded with lottery picks, mediocrity in the East is rewarded with playoff appearances... and we wonder why the gap keeps widening.

This is a grate poast. 2018 NBA Offseason

I'd be kind of excited if I were in Kobi Altman's shoes, provided Dan isn't telling him he wants to win now. As Moneyball described above (great post btw), there's just so many creative things they can do to turn this thing around.

Cavs had love get hurt and had to deal with ITs injury post trade.

There were other critical injuries as well.

East third seed had a better record than west 3rd, same thing with east 4th.

The West was very flat this year. West won the east vs west but the difference wasn’t ridiculous by any means.

East has two potential behemoths with sick assets and flexibility going forward. Lakers, Denver and Utah look well positioned going forward in the west especially if kawhi comes.
The West top 8 won 61% of their games vs the East top 8. The conferences weren't close and the East has lost Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and Lebron James and taken back Serge Ibaka and lol Gordon Hayward. Real possibility that every single team in the West would sweep their way through the East.

Damn JTM going HARD.

I disagree with him but his premise is correct

So does anyone know if Silver has veto-power over the whole conferences thing? I would think with the draft and their biggest product Lakers being adversely affected by conferences more than ever he might be compelled to.

The WNBA did it right?

Boogie has to go back to NO now right?

Seems like he has to go back for like 1/20, 2/40.

Only leverage he really has is that Brow would probably be pissed if they didn't bring him back and you don't wanna lowball Boogie on a 1yr then he takes it and jets next summer when he has more leverage.

They were terrible at the time. But, as i said, the worst deal was the Knicks signing Noah. He shot like 39% free throws the year before and was about even money to draw rim on a layup. I've never seen a player suck more than he did his last year in Chicago.

K.Love is the only guy that gets you anything of use on the roster, just trade him to the Suns for Tyson Chandler, Bender + filler & a protected pick as tis the best you can probably do, maybe Pacers can give you something similar as well.

How about sending Joakim Noah's ***** ass to Cleveland + a top whatever protected pick for KLove to the KNACKS.

KLove seems like he would be great under Fizdale afaict.

Edit: plus his rebounding prowess would be great alongside Porzingis.

Anyone know if KCP can be dealt to SA in a Kawhi deal right now or does that have to wait until December or something?

He was on the Lakers last year so that's different than an incoming FA isn't it?

I'm convinced his signing by Phil Jackson was just a long con to **** over the Knicks and give the fans a reason to yell for his removal from office. Which pressured Dolan with Phil countering "pay me my maney".

Not sure about TT/Mahimni either.
Clarkson makes 3.56 less than Biyombo next year and wouldn't be the same level of dead salary. People have short memories. Biyombo will be sitting on the bench all year behind Vuc and Bamba, and will be thought of next summer only in terms of waiving him or keeping him till the deadline to possibly match salaries. Hell be Deng or Noah. Clarkson on the other hand was just traded at the deadline like he wasn't a complete zero and Orlando where he wouldn't be playing off the ball with LeBron will be a relatively good place for him to succeed. Something small going to Cleveland would be a win/win.

Right now the Wizards are 153k over the tax. After the trade they would be 3.772 under the tax. I think the trades legal because the Wizards would be taking back >80% of the money back too, but not 100% sure on that. Anyways they are the rumoured destination for Dwight or Noel on a min. They could do that and if Mike Scott gets no nibbles could resign him for the min too while remaining under the tax. If they start negotiating sign and trades with the Pelicans, the extra money under the cap would be nice as well as the added leverage of not having the same level of black hole at the center position. I dont know how much of an asset the swap would be worth, but it would certainly improve the Wizards position quite a bit.

What's something small? like a 2nd rd pick? Yeah, sure that can happen.

Doubt you get 1sts for these swaps you speak of tho.

Great I really wanted to listen to the most boring people I've ever heard talk about how everyone overpaid and every player made a bad free agency decision.

Pacers probably manage to lose one of Myles/Domas in a deal for KLove, so I think CLE has to at least offer it.

I'm sick of this **** man. It gets worse every ****ing year.

The only 3 players in the East to ever have made an All-NBA first team:

Dwight Howard 11-12 (likely to head west)
D Wade 09-10 (he's now 37)
Joakim Noah 13-14 (is no longer expected to attend games)

fooking joke of a joke of a joke of a conference.

Superstars very likely wouldn't go to Cleveland in 2 summers, but it doesn't matter. Whats the alternative? Adding pieces would hurt their picks and the chances of them keeping them and likely just hurt the long term health of the team.

In 2 summers they can really do all sorts of things that dont include getting superstars. Whether they continued to rebuild or switched into win now mode even without a free agent superstar, or somewhere in between, they'd be in a much better place than the alternatives to going full tank the next 2 years imo.

Stephen A Smith said tonight that KUZMA is off limits!

Kuz will not be included in a deal for Kawhi.

He also said that if a deal doesn't happen by tomorrow morning that the Lakers will just move on.

And he said Kawhi if he's not traded could very well just sit out the entire next season. lol
