Right, it is not simply the plus of LAL getting KD but the minus of GSW losing him.

Him + PG + decent young supporting cast that can play unselfishly adds up to possible multi-year chp runs.

Ariza wants to sign with the Warriors, he can replace alot of what Barnes brought. Kd leaving the warriors & joining P.G would be awesome for the league.

Seems like fake news, Ariza could make a lot more $ staying in Houston and CP/Harden even get him in their commercials.

was there any kind of news came out that left in this shift in the odds of where bron goes or is it just a bunch of fish clicking the LAL button?

Anyone know how tall is Bronny jr?

I did some preliminary googling the other night and saw him listed at 5'4". Not sure how up to date that was.

I mean I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up significantly shorter than LeBron cuz afaik his mom is on the short side.

Think he's at least 5'10". This is him next to Wade's son, who is 6'2". Lebron playing against his son in the NBA would obv be super cool to see.

That defensive issue is just going to be too much to overcome unless one or both develops really well.

As awesome as Thad is, it may be better developmentally if he opts out. It's not like Indy is winning anything this year anyway.
Really like this idea. Gets maximum development into the two and the front office can make all the big decisions next off season, with a better idea of where they're at and probably with a better group of targets. Now I kinda want him to opt out :P

What's the least amount LeBron would sign for? I don't get why he just doesn't sign for $20m somewhere so the team can add a legitimate extra piece.

The Warriors have multiple discounted players and were also able to use the increased salary cap to form this super team. LeBron could mitigate this by taking a major discount. I know the league can veto trades, but I wonder what would happen if LeBron just decided to sign for the minimum allowed.

I actually find it surprising that LeBron would demand a max. Tom Brady isn't getting near top salary which is a big reason why the Patriots have been able to surround him with better players. The benefit towards his legacy and brand would certainly make up for some of the lost contract value. I don't know how anyone could tell him that he has to sign for more money.

LeBron leaving money at the table means he's that much short of a billion.

And he really wants to be a billionaire ASAP.

Him signing for the minimum is not something his ginormous ego would allow. Would he leave $15 million a year on the table? Still doubtful. Maybe he would trust the Lakers and Magic Johnson to spend the saved money properly though.

Good question and great point overall. He makes so much $$$ off the court that signing for like 20-25 is def in play. He makes like 50per off the court according to the latest forbes figures. And I'd imagine that # goes up in a place like LA.

But he has said that he thinks he owes it to all the players to get the most $ he can given his stature in the league and in the players association. I don't really understand that 1 too much, it isn't like players get a bigger % of the revenue if LeBron takes more $. Maybe playing for a team for 20m when you know you are worth 80+ is just hard to pass up. Like signing for 20 when Paul George gets 32 just feels like something that would be hard to do.

Also, Brady's wife is also rich beyond belief as well so that makes it a little easier. Getting back to your original question though, I'd say 20ish is the minimum. Can't imagine him going into the teens but I could see 20ish. After taxes that is only like 6-7mill a year difference.

He took 14 instead of like 16.5 the last time he was in this position in 2010 I believe. 2014 I think he might've taken slightly less but there really wasn't much of a reason to take too much less.

And one last thing I'd add is that besides the year Welker played with the franchise tag, I believe Brady was still the Pats highest paid player every single year over the last 7-8 years. Being the 3rd highest paid guy in the locker room and being LeBron James is a little bit weirder dynamic.

Great point about the taxes.

**** it Paul George should take 20~ mil too. Hometown / Magic Johnson discount. Then add a real piece to beat those ****ing front running fake adversity Warriors.

That's right. I said it. Somebody had to.

MagnumMike touched on why a Brady/LeBron has the incentive to do that for branding/endorsement purposes that will extend beyond their playing days.

What incentive does a Paul George or Matt Stafford/Kirk Cousins have to do it though? They would just be straightup taking less $. And getting paid the most $ they can is a large part of what validates them as players. Whereas a Bron/Brady is more solidified in their stature that they don't need that $ to validate them.

Don’t think it’s at all surprising that Lebron is concerned about how taking less money would affect other players. That and he has already taken a cut in his career and this is his last deal

Dubs losing Durant for nothing would obv be a big blow as they are very thin on the wing, but they’d still be a top west. Appears he’s all in on the team culture though

How does it affect other players? It doesn't change the salary cap. If anything it puts LeBron James on a better team and thus that team makes the finals and competes for a title and that grows the league revenue pie.

I don't think a 34 year old on his last deal taking less is that big of a deal. Does Brady taking less affect other players?

I think the point I raised is the biggest roadblock. Brady was still always the highest paid in his locker room, can LeBron take 20 and make less $ than Julius Randle and Playoff P, then Ingram in 2 years? Seems like a tough hurdle.

That's why it would be extra nice for his legacy. I like the narrative of LeBron being the the 40th highest paid player just so he can make the best team possible. Seems like something a next level cerebral player would do. After the finals, I think LeBron's state of mind could be winning>ego>money. I just really want to see LeBron go somewhere that can compete right away with GSW.

He’s one of the heads of the players union. Pretty sure he’s been saying he wants to get maxed this offseason. I agree he should take less if he wants to really bring down the Warriors.

Pretty sure we'd just look at that as being bitchmade. Max contracts are already lol for a guy like Lebron, a guy like Kent Bazemore makes like 70% of what Lebron makes. Now you guys want him to play for less than Kent Bazemore?

Would we?

Tim Duncan did it for years, Tom Brady currently does it and these guys are celebrated for it.

Yeah, it is LeBron so people would find a way to hate but seems weird when others do it.

Blake Bortles and Eli make more than TB12. Just saying it can be spun to look like a team player rather than a cupcake. I like the idea of LeBron "breaking" the flawed salary cap system. CP3 is probably asking him how much his max is daily.

He should definitely take less than the max that is already way less than he is worth to let some scumbag owner pocket the difference.
