I'm pretty certain that LAL fans pledge allegiance to front-running before anything else; there will be close to zero angst or self examination among any of them (as long as they win).

So Kawhi to LAL is a lock now?

This feels lame.

Honestly the only part that feels lame is the conferences. Behind Boston you can argue that the next seeds 3-10 are better than every other team in the East next year.

Assuming Kawhi to LAL of course, which better ****ing happen.

I think they really, REALLY need to think about this whole conference thing now that the top 3 teams in the league are in the same conference.

Philly really going to be that bad? Pacers should be better, same thing with the Bucks.

Cavs-trash
Toronto-likely slight worse
Wizards-even

I'd put them in the same tier as the #9/10 seed, they were better last year but took a couple hits, if you assume them @.500 ball prior to signing their shooters is closer to how they actually were.

At worst, it's Boston>>Philly>seeds 4-10 ITW> 3 seed in the East. It's totally dumb.

[edit] Forgot about Toronto...

Boston could easily be the 2nd best team in the league and have #2 in equity as well (possibly higher since their path is so much easier than Houston, LAL or GSW).

They won 52 games despite starting and starring rookie Simmons--Embiid missed a decent # of games and Fultz essentially didn't play. Saric is still insanely young and got better. Like I think they can improve just for the fact that they're playing together another season and are insanely young. If Fultz is decent year 2 they have a chance at being really good. They likely are keeping Redick now or getting a few other players and their current losses are 2 guys they picked up midseason.

And I doubt LeBron is fine with punting one of the last few years of his career and having to struggle to make the playoffs.
I hear what you're saying but maybe Lebron's desire to be in L.A is more than just looking to title this year. His Hollywood career, nice weather, his saving the Lakers narrative etc..

They can still sign Boogie who Lebron likes. But if not can wait 1 year for Kawhi or the many other big name free agents next year. Lebron's career isn't in it's last few years. He's got at least 5 years left minimum.

They still may do the trade for Kawhi if that's what Lebron requested but I think it better for Lakers and Lebron long term to wait instead of give away their young future stars.

According to Sagarin the Wizards and Pacers were behind Denver, who should improve at a higher rate than those two next year. I could see Portland dropping just because they ran really hot wrt injuries and playing injured teams though..

Boston only has to face 1 of them, that's worth a ridiculous amount of equity

free Finals trip basically

A bit surprised Lebron wants to go out in round 1 to the warriors instead of the finals but whatever.

Celtics may be a bigger winner than the Lakers with the Lebron signing, especially if Kawhi doesn't go to the 76ers.
