Yeah you were right Moneyball.

They already offered that to him at 6.1

Interesting how this plays out. I don't think Ainge is going to pay him and he's going to end up playing on the QO. Ainge isn't going to match if a bigger contract comes elsewhere (unlikely) imo. You think he matches 3/39?

Boogie just gave a hometown discount. 4/70 with a player option 4th year.

I don't know if that's a discount, or being pragmatic.

NO fans have to be happy. For once you didn't overpay a 5!

Seems like the sort of situation where Ainge would try to get a minor asset to agree to not match.

I was going to speculate LeBron & Boogie signing with LAL & trading for Kawhi, since LeBron has said several times how great he thinks Boogie is, but nvm.

If you decide to sign someone it makes zero sense to sign a SF. If you sign a stop gap it probably makes sense to make it a PG, but the only one out there really is IT who had a terrible time in PHX and fits terribly next to Booker.

And if you decide to sign a player for the long term PG makes sense for long term need and for players that fit the mold of young dudes that fit well next to Booker. FVV, Smart and Exum check all those boxes and are guys that played effectively both guard spots a lot this year and came off the bench so long term they work as bench pieces too. The only other major FA that really makes sense to me is Gordon, but even then youre blocking your other forwards to some degree. FVV, Smart or Exum are blocking Brandon Knight. Who cares?
i think we mostly agree

Maybe he noze something?

Can't imagine Boogie would take that much of a discount though.

Ya exactly this. Presti is a moron and signing PG and making your owners eat a nearly 200m tax bill is not remotely good GMing. Especially considering they have 0.00% chance at winning the west.

This deal will be lauded as a huge win for Presti when it is really just delaying the inevitable rebuild and costing the owners a huge amount of money. Thunder are one oil downturn from not existing probably.

Didn't we already have an oil downturn/nat gas bust and the owners seemed to not miss a beat.

If they waive carmelo they can save 90m in luxury tax. They have to be thinking about that. Carmelo will cost 120m this season if he’s retained.

They did end up with a good package for Harden. They probably didn't really think he was a max player, misevaluating their own guy was the real issue.

The owner wanting to not be reviled can be a real thing here too.

There's also a difference between trading a guy for assets you think might be somewhat comparable & letting a guy walk for nothing.

Saying they have 0% equity is asinine.

Russ/Roberson/PG/Steve is a fantastic 4 of athletes. Run hot and they could potentially beat anyone 4 of 7. Development of Ferguson is the kind of 5th cog they need. A bench would be nice tho.

Hou was old on the perimeter and almost beat GS.

Harden did suck in the finals while KD was sick and rwb was good but inefficient. Has any other player been so poorly scouted by his own team in other situations in basketball?

Also, lebron camp meeting with sixers in LA. So much fake news out there.

It would require better coaching and getting rid of players with little value like melo. It’s not 0% but it’s damn close to it. They have little shot at beating gsw, Houston, Utah and Celtics/Philly in a 7 game series. Odds are non zero but essentially 0.

Pretty sure right after lebron lost in the finals embiid was on twitter recruiting lebron. I think after the Celtics series he quickly realized every series wouldn’t be like the Heat one.
