I think that Cousins-Porter deal is a win for both sides. Wiz are overweighted on the perimeter and Pels are overweighted with big men so it provides resource balancing for both. Pels need shooting and need a 3 real bad.

For the Wiz, it's probably a good basketball move and definitely a good business move. Wiz are lagging in the market with the Caps and Nats being good. They've got a solid, limited upside team that's getting stale with the fans (plus zero hope of leveling up). And remember that their last iteration with Arenas was also a solid, limited upside, perimeter-oriented team, so fans have seen this movie before.

Cousins gives them some variability in performance and something new to watch. Plus, let's face it, Otto, whether he's top 15 or top 50, was got to be one of the most boring $25 M guys to watch in the league. Not like they're titling either way, so you might as well inject some interest and maybe a little upside with Cousins.

i believe he will regress, yes. remains to be seen, obviously. but i would not have taken him top 50 in a dynasty draft. that injury is very scary to me.

doesnt help his case that i wasn't a big fan of his pre-injury, pelicans playing better with him out of the lineup, his career history, etc.

I like how capone has gone from not knowing Boogie is injured, to not knowing what his injury is, to extremely confident in his assessment of his future

I did research on it. It’s brutal for most players. Its weird that most are older players, but if it’s due to use I don’t know how it helps the argument for boogie getting back to his old self.

I'd roll the dice on Dwight on the cheap and keep Porter if I'm the Wizards.

I like the Rivers/Gortat deal too. Gortat just sucks now, game has passed him by. I think Rivers gets a lot of crap but he is a tough, hard nosed player. Should make for a good 3rd guard and give the Wiz some much needed scoring off the bench.

boogie for Otto Porter a win/win imo. Wizards are ****ed either way, might as well stack stars, and oubre can give you 75 percent porter

then who gives you 75% of Oubre?

Looks like the Mavs might have Deandre Jordan pretty soon considering they suddenly just withdrew the QO to McDermott they made yesterday to clear room which fits Jordan perfectly.

Not sure how I feel:
Potentially Smith/Doncic/Barnes/Dirk/Jordan with Curry/Powell/JJ/Yogi/Brunson off the bench? (I'm assuming Wes would have to be traded? Maybe Powell?)

How you think that lineup stacks up? It seems pretty damn solid actually but I sportshate Deandre Jordan a lot. I think the Mavs tanked well last year. Point differential was small and they had massive gaping holes around the rim rebounding and on defense, which were sort of intentional imo. I think they were a .500 team losing on purpose basically.

all depends on how legit Doncic is & is DSJ can make a huge stepup in his second season. If the Spurs trade Kawhi i could see them being the 8th seed.

One of my hot sports opinions is DSJ's rookie performance....who is flying very far under the radar. I've never seen someone get hammered all season long like he did and get to the line as little as he did.

His shooting will need to improve, but if he stops getting rooked, his ppg is going to go up ~4ppg and his fg% 4 or 5 points without him doing anything different.

I'm fine with Carlisle bringing him along slowly, but he should get more minutes this year too.

If they get Deandre then i don't see why not. The Utah Jazz got to the playoffs & i don't think their squad is that superior, DJ is worse than Gobert but i don't think the gap is that big to where Jazz is far superior to what the Mavs can put on the floor. I'll take Mavs backcourt>> Utah & Barnes>> Ingles. Now of course this is barring DSJ & Doncic working out & looking amazing together, which is what i'm assuming/hoping will happen.

doncic + DSJ >> Mitchell + Rubio? Since when? Also lol at Barnes >> Ingles. Utah was like a 55+ win team with Gobert healthy. Ingles isn't pretty but a very effective player. DSJ is trash right now.

Assuming no other major moves but getting DJ for relatively little, I'd guess Mavs win total is in the 36-37 range.

Doncic will be a 19 year old rookie, DSJ was horrible last year.

Jazz win total will likely be 48+

I do think thAt Dallas team is pretty goood but a huge lol at them being close to a jazz team with a healthy rubio. Donavon Mitchell is a legit superstar, maybe one day Doncic will get to that level but he’s not getting there this season

**** Deandre Jordan. I don't want him at all. And there is not point in getting him at this point in our rebuild. Just tank again and sign a few one year contracts. Even if we tank, I doubt we will get a top 5 pick in order to keep our pick, but at least we can keep cap space open for next year when we will have a better idea of where we are in the rebuild.

The one complicating factor is Dirk. I really just think they want to try and make the playoffs for his last year.

Basically zero chance that Mavs team makes the playoffs. I mean never say never, each lower run playoff team could have a major injury, but I doubt they'd be as good as the Grizzlies, the Lakers are an unknown (but even as constructed, might be competitive), they sure as hell won't be competitive with the Nuggets-- and really only the team that might get worse from the playoffs last year is the Spurs. AND the Suns will probably grab a PG from the Nets or Hawks or even Hornets and push for the 8 seed.

The Mavs are TWO above average NBA players away from even having 30% equity tbh. The West is that good (and young primary ball handlers are generally that bad)

You do realize Rubio is one of the worst starting pg's in the nba right? Rubio= Great passer, good team defender but Rubio is also a terrible on ball defender, who can't create his offense nor shoot & recently he sucks at rebounding for some reason. DSJ>> Rubio next year or else he should just retire, Rubio sucks hahah.
