If Kawhi leaves Spurs like this, I really hope he becomes terrible in his future team and gets the spurs product label for his whole career

Woj reporting that both Clippers & Lakers are of interest to Kawhi if they turn down the supermax. I think this is just Kawhi team putting it out there to the public that if Spurs don't give him supermax then they will demand a trade. Spurs probably will give him supermax unless Pop is soon ready to retire & this probably will blow over pretty soon.

If not, would Spurs take Lonzo + Ingram over #12-13th picks & filler? Interesting offseason in July.

That has to be because of Lavar, Lonzo game seems like it would fit the Spurs to a T & if anybody is going to fix his shot it's them. The diss tracks + Lavar is the only reason ican see why they wouldn't want him, he has talent & plays the game the right way.

So it's Ingram + Kuzma + Deng contract vs the #12-13th pick in this years draft + either Galinari/Tobias? I guess they will take the Lakers deal because of Ingrams upside but iono.

Why? I mean maybe he coulda played last year maybe not. But either way the team and coach punked him in the press for it. If you were the main reason the spurs been good last few years/best player on team and an all around good guy, never getting in trouble, how would you feel about being treated that way? Feels like spurs brought this on themselves.

Not sure I follow, Spurs did him dirty.

Saddling him to two massive contracts in Gasol/Aldridge is not a good look for a 25 year old imo.

I'm not sure if Kawhi can single handedly take a team to a title or deep into the playoffs but if he has Lebron and PG, I can't imagine them struggling before meeting up with GSW or Houston in the West. Kawhi would be a sick second option like Pippen with worse passing.

I would assume Kawhi doesn't love Pop but I can't imagine Luke Walton leading that team to the promised land.

The Celtics should trade anything of value for Kawhi if it's Kawhi's intent to play for the Lakers eventually.

The Celts were smart last year not to trade for Paul George when he made similar intentions be known.

What else were they going to do?

They're not going to get high picks anymore because at worst when Kawhi healthy they're going to be a 3-4 seed in the West. Binking Tony, Manu in the draft doesn't seem plausible anymore. While I agree Gasol/Aldridge are MEH especially compared to what is in GSW, it seems like they best they could do. Big time FAs don't really come to SA. The Spurs should have done a better job drafting and getting lucky as **** again at the end of the first and second rounds.

Kawhi is nothing like Pippen offensively.

For one, he can shoot.

I never said they were exact. I think having an elite defensive guy who can score and doesn't mind playing off the ball is great for playing with Lebron. While Kawhi's assist #s have increased the past few years, I think he was fine playing off the ball. I just think Lebron and Kawhi could work well together, that's all I meant by that statement.

The best 2nd bananas alltime are? Pippen, Kobe, Magic/Kareem IMO. So Kawhi would be comparable to a better defensive Kobe? Again, Kobe like to dominate the ball more.

And the whole "worse passer" thing....um...yeah, no. Kawhi is a very good passer.

Pippen averaged 5.3 APG his career and 7.0 at his peak, Kawhi averages 2.3 APG for his career and 3.5 in his best year....you guys got me. Kawhi is a 12% AST% guy, Scottie is a 23%. I don't think Kawhi is a bad passer but Pippen was elite.

They were in position to have 2 max slots right now before giving all that money to Gasol and Mills. They could theoretically have had two max slots WITH LMA and Kawhi right now ffs...

They had come of a 65+ win season and weren't in danger of losing anyone except Mills, which should have been fine.

I talked about it then, I think they hosed themselves really, really bad.

For the lakers organization getting rid of their young guys to get Kawhi is worth it obviously. As then it brings Lebron for sure. And either Paul George or Chris Paul. So your organization is now playing for titles immediately. But just feels tainted some as it would be essentially replacing the lakers team with a bunch of superstars looking for a venue. And it will only be for maybe 5 years max for Lebron and Paul if it Paul. Where Ingram, Kuzma, Lonzo are just kids who could play together for a really long time. Much less likely winning titles(especially early) then those other guys but it would be pure and long lasting good team.

I'd still watch and be intrigued but it just feels if it was football it would be like the rams last year announcing the patriots plus other pro bowl free agents were playing for Los Angeles rams now and all rams young talent being given away.

2 Max slots with NOBODY who wants to come to SA. Like the best they're going to get is LMA on the FA market. That's their issue. They're a small market, they havent' won with sniping big time FAs, they won through the draft and smart, small FA moves. They should have tanked this year if they wanted to get better long term, it's basically the only way they could have gotten an elite player.

And he has raised his APG every year....leading up to the injury, at least.

He will probably average closer to 5APG for his career. Average aside...the man is a very good passer. So was Pippen. I just dont like how you said he was the "worse" passer lol. As if it's a weakness of his or something

I always thought it was odd how Pop handled Zaza undercutting Kawhi.

I think players would come if they set themselves up properly. Kyrie was interested, and being able to set yourself up to bring a friend to join a top 5 player in Kawhi seems like an ideal situation for someone like Bron.

At the very least, why commit yourself to more years of Paul/LMA/Mills? They could have just let the first two go into the final year of their contracts and not signed Patty... I don't see what the upside was in giving those guys all that money.

Kawhi for Kyrie seems too easy to ever happen

I've been rooting against a Laker powerhouse but now I kinda wanna see a handful of these punk bitches come together, lose still and drink up all the Laker fan tears.

I think Kawhi is gonna put out the signal that he's Lakers bound no matter what (in 2019 free agency) so it's going to kill the trade market for the Spurs. Thus he'll just get traded to the Lakers shortly.
