The Warriors won the championship again. Who saw that coming? 2018 NBA Offseason2018 NBA Offseason

Well now it's time for the Real NBA Season, the NBA Offseason that is.

The biggest story that will unfold: Where King James will take his talents to this time around. AKA The Decision Part III.

Here are the recent odds:

And here's an appropriate LeBron to the Lakers hype video:

Other story lines:

Where will PG13 end up? Perhaps joining forces with LeBron on the Lakers?

What will happen with Kawhi? Will the Lakers put forth a package of young players to acquire and team Kawhi with LeBron and PG13 to create the best perimeter trio in the history of the NBA? Will the Celtics and Danny Ainge dip into their treasure trove of assets to acquire him?

Will Boogie Cousins, who is recovering from an achilles tear, still receive a max contract?

What will Daryl Morey and the Rockets do to reload and retool to prepare for another epic showdown with the Warriors?

With LeBron likely gone from cLEAVEland, KLove will probably be traded but to where? Possibly to House Knicks or House Suns, both of whom have looked to acquire him in the past. Will he regain his Minnesota bulk stats form? Will AssaniFisher and BobboFitos return to TZ and proclaim that he is once again a top 10 player?

What will happen with the NBA Draft which is readily approaching on June 21st?

With a draft this deep there may be a top asset slipping to the latter part of the lottery akin to Donovan Mitchell from last year. But who will it be? Possibly Michael Porter Jr who would have been in contention for the #1 pick if not for his freshman year injury. Will the Suns regret taking Ayton? Will the Suns get the steal of the draft by trading up into the top 10 and selecting the next Steve Nash aka Trigger Trae Young?

How high will Mo Bamba (or as I like to call him Bo Mamba 2018 NBA Offseason) rise in the draft? Is Danny Ainge going to trade up and acquire him or is this just another Celtic smokescreen in an attempt to target another top prospect (Doncic!?)? How much will Luka Doncic slide? Will the Knicks fans stand and boo who they select, as has come to be a tradition every year?

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your NBA Offseason. Embrace it, enjoy it, cherish it!

No idea of there's any actual interest from either side, but if (when) LeBron leaves I'd love to see Pacers have a crack at getting Love. Take a bit of offensive load off Dipo and a Love/Turner front court lets you field 5 3pt threats in starting lineup.

I like Thad Young and feel he is way under-appreciated but I wouldn't mind KLove.

I mean Collison-Dipo-BRON-Sabonis-Turner is best and the team could afford it, but ya know it's too tempting to play in lolLA or for James ****ing Dolan so there you go.

Sixers offseason has already been super interesting with the BC stuff.

Man Lebron to me just makes too much sense for the team. If not Lebron, Kawhi would be a sick secondary prize if the Sixers can make it happen. I can imagine the Sixers stick to their guns. My friend was saying (this was when BC was around) that the Sixers are going allin on PG or Lebron so will see what happens.

Next season is going to be really interesting especially if teams stay healthy and make moves.

Before moves are made seems like the rankings are as follows:

1) GSW
2) Houston--could be higher or still right here if Lebron comes
3) Boston
4) Philly-could be higher if they get Lebron
5) Spurs-depends on what happens with Kawhi--if he leaves, lower, if he stays, potentially higher
6) Utah
7) TOR
8) Indy
9) NOP
10) MIN
11) Denver
12) Portland
13) OKC-depends on where PG ends up
14) Milwaukee
15) Washington
16) LAL-depends on where Lebron ends up--if they get PG/LBJ it would be much higher

Coach Bud will actually maximize that teams talent & they have alot, they are way better than Utah who you strangely have at #6. I expect Giannis to be mvp next season.

Was looking at shams capulator and if Lakers sign LeBron and PG and renounce all/stretch Deng they’ll have 5.5 million left in cap space while just having LeBron and Kuzma as bigs. Is there a shot Derrick Favors could go there for 5.5?

My projected LeBron Lakers team assuming no trades is as follows

Noel/Bebe/Speights
LeBron/Kuzma
George/Hart
Ingram/Jamal Crawford
Lonzo/Chalmers/Calderon

Plus the 25th pick

They’d have the 5.5 million, whatever exception they get on top of, which I think is 5 million and min contracts. Not a ton of great options out there for that. Dream scenario would be Favors, Barton and min contracts.

Utah was really good when Gobert was healthy. Mitchell should get better as well. They were 37-19 when he played.

Maybe I'm underrating Milwaukee, it's definitely possible.

Don't they have to pay Noel?

Also Indiana seems like it would be the most logical place for a Kevin Love trade just looking at rosters and motivations, but it’s worth noting that the Pacers didn’t want Love last offseason.

Noel’s not getting more than the 5.5 they’d be able to offer him. Who knows what he actually gets. No one seemed to have wanted to trade for him this season and I heard from some twitter accounts that he’s a bad locker room guy.

I can def see the possibility of Milwaukee winning 50 games with Coach Bud.

BC's wife said he was awful. I've heard the same thing from my friend who works for the Sixers. He's dumb as a rock and wants to be paid and featured like he's Lebron. I can't imagine Lebron wanting to be on the same team as him (even if they have the same agent) due to Noel's inability to play nice.

50? If they win less than 60 i'll be dissapointed. Bud made Korver, Millsap, Horford & Jeff motherfing Teague an allstar. Celtics, 76ers & Bucks will be fighting for the eastern conference crown next year if Lebron goes to the west & i wouldn't be surprised if the Bucks got to the nba finals.

Bucks & Minnesota are in the same state the Warriors were in before Kerr got there imo, one good coach away from competing for rings, both teams so stacked with talent, just need to put it together.

Is there a scenario where LeBron to the Clippers makes sense? I would not take LeBron to the Celtics at 50/1. I want to see LeBron go to Philly. If Simmons or Embiid go Kyrie on him and want out, how would that affect his legacy? (Actually, I think the most entertaining team for him to go to would be the Jazz.) I am intrigued by the report that Popovich wants to get a meeting with James.

If the Thunder could trade Carmelo to Cleveland for JR Smith, Jordan Clarkson, and Kyle Korver, should that make Paul George more interested in returning? Without LeBron, the Cavs should snap accept that deal without getting any picks just to get off that future salary, right? And offer to give Carmelo a buy-out so he can play wherever he wants, provided the GM there is not allergic to cancer?

I predict that we will know where LeBron plays next season before we know who Philly's next GM is.

Speaking of GMs, the Pistons reportedly want their next GM to be a former NBA player. Why?

Last offseason, everyone thought the rest of the league should tank and wait for Golden State's run to be over. Has everyone moved on from that?

Will Mark Cuban continue his feud with the Rockets by offering Clint Capela a max contract on July 1?

I really like Thad too, and would be perfectly happy if he opted into his last year because I think he's fine value on his current contract. Was under the impression he was likely to opt out though. Guess we'll find out

Exo, I think your overvaluing Milwaukee a lot. I guess a ton of action is being put on the Lakers to push them to 20/1.

Embiid already sent a tweet recruiting him. Simmons is probably the guy who loses out the most. With that being said, I think it's beneficial that Lebron does less than he's doing now. If he has guys he can trust, I think he's fine with deferring the issue was in Cleveland the team was so bad without Lebron that he couldn't sit long.

That would be very good for OKC--not sure if it'll be enough to entice PG to stay though
I predict that we will know where LeBron plays next season before we know who Philly's next GM is.

I think the fact that Brent Brown is responsible for the GM duties for now makes it much more likely that this happens.
Speaking of GMs, the Pistons reportedly want their next GM to be a former NBA player. Why?

I think more teams have a shot now but GSW is still a huge favorite barring injuries to their big 4
Will Mark Cuban continue his feud with the Rockets by offering Clint Capela a max contract on July 1?

Whatever the case, the Rockets must match and I'll assure they match unless it means not getting Lebron or not. Can they wait till after Lebron potentially signs to Bird rights Capela?
See in Bold.

Nuggets are in a real **** situation this summer if Jokic demands a max.

Theyll be over 8 million over the tax and thats with losing Barton and Harris.

If they use their pick to clear Farieds salary they would still only be 5.6 under the tax to replace their backup guards. Depressing for a team whos missed the playoffs the last 5 years.

Trailblazers are in another **** tax situation with 12.5 under the tax to either resign or replace Nurkic, Davis, Napier and Connaugton

Raptors are already 2.2 million over the tax without resigning FVV.

Wizards are 1.8 over without resigning Mike Scott.

Its not gonna be cheap to dump contracts this summer. If the Lakers miss on LeBron they should definitely consider passing on PG at 30% of the cap and just get a ton of picks being the other teams dumping ground.

We've talked this in other threads but it isn't like you can bet -750 he won't go there and just make the risk free 13.3% ROI in 3 weeks.

They know a few people will bite on it so they just throw it out there.

Lines like "Where is LeBron going?" aren't really striving for the same efficiency as game lines.
