All in all I thought they had ~ 10% title equity factoring in other series and injuries/ refusals to play

The Cavs won the east last year and had < 10% equity against GS. If the raptors had > 20% equity against the warriors + Boogie (they don't) they would be a virtual lock to win the east (they aren't).

You're not a free agent. You signed a multi-year contract. If you wanted to do whatever you felt like every offseason, you could sign a 1-year contract every season.

He should be catching more **** than anyone.

There are no snakes imo. Kawhi just saw IT2 lose 70-100M by being loyal to a good franchise, KD played with Russ and heard fans say he can't win every day, and Lebron played for a terrible owner* twice

*great at spending money though, which I commend.

@72off, they made him sweat out his second contract for a year so they could use his cap-hold to sign a marquee free agent. Then they signed LMA who struggled to fit with the team, then they kept signing and overpaying olds when they could have waited a year and had at least a max in both 2018 and 2019.

Spurs did Kawhi dirty in the same way Utah did Hayward five years ago, imo.

No, if they would have actually won game 1 they would have had about 20-25% equity. So they were above 10% for most of the fourth quarter of game 1.

I don't think it passes the Nene test. If they decide they want to trade him next summer and pay Irving and Rozier, I think they have to give up an asset to get him off the payroll.

I wonder if Ainge was holding off on signing Smart because a sign and trade of Smart was one of the things he was hoping to be able to offer in any potential Kawhi trade since the Celtics were adamant about keeping all of their starters.

the thing is Smart is still 24 and it depends a lot on how he improves, enterring his prime. I would bet on him improving and becoming an asset under Brad. but with little or no improvement, 4/48 is a lot for a bad shooter

Smart has played his entire career with Brad and just finished his 4th season with Lonzo Ball shooting numbers.

The hope for improvement seems slim and none at this point.

IMO its one thing to get a trade from SAS if he feels they wronged him by rushing him back when he wasn't ready.

It's a completely different animal to refuse to play for TOR because he didn't get traded where he wants, and would be the biggest entitled, *****-made move in NBA history.
