Agree its a tough spot. I think you either want one of the top 7 guys or a late 1st round pick. I considered a few others, but I like Oladipo best(I thought it went 8. Towns, 9. Embiid, 10. Oladipo). I think you may be letting his outlier year in OKC cloud your view of his celing. Look at how linear his growth would appear otherwise:

age 21: 13.6
age 22: 15.9
age 23: 16.7
age 24: ------
age 25: 23.1


If that read "age 24: 20.0" then it'd be very reasonable to extrapolate a prime of 25+ PER(which combined with his D is more than enough upside from the #15 pick). Hes a former #2 overall pick who has great athleticism and no huge flaws.

Other than have size to guard the elite SFs, Oladipo does everything you want from a team building perspective. He can guard multiple positions, his off ball D is elite, he can create offense or space the floor, good locker room guy, etc.

Can go many different ways but big men that can play inside and out with defence are rare. Can play and defend the PNR decently well. Coming off an injury, but gotta take the risk at 16 here. Worst case I get top 5 centre who is injury prone and can longer run, but still useful and can play against and in small lineups. Best case I get the best centre in the league who can do everything.

16 is a awful spot. You can’t really win without a elite, all NBA first team calibre player. Cousins is that guy when healthy and all reports state he is making great progress. Gotta take the risk at 16 to get one of the last remaining elites.

Other than Doncic, the two achilles guys have been the worst picks.

It was an unenviable spot, but Oladipo is a legitimate all-defensive guy with top 1% NBA Athleticism who will be basically prime throughout the draft. Tough to cap his upside at age 25 when you see skill improvements that some of these guys make year over year

I personally think coach is just a wasted pick when your only going to have a 7 man rotation. I mean its interesting to think what Brad is worth but comparing 7 man teams to 8 is always going be 8>>>>7.
