Ingram is a pretty solid steal I think, upside picks being underrated. I believe I got Oladipo around the 3rd round in one of these a year or two ago, there are a bunch of early 20-somethings that we just aren't gonna anticipate a big leap for-- Ingram, Murray, Gordon from this round are good examples of guys who have a shot at it
edit: Take Ingram vs Love, it might only be 35% that Ingram provides as much real value as Love does over this 5 years, but when he does it's a much more modern player
Ingram is who I would have taken if Gordon was gone.
I was looking for something else, but came across this CLINT CAPELA write-up from 4 years ago by accident. Don't remember writing it, but it amused me to read it.
**** it im going to take Lamarcus Alridge. Hes 32 but has showed no signs of slowing down and yes I have Embiid but I figure both play 32-34 minutes with a complete stagger and since both can shoot and LMA has played with another big a lot in his career (and Embiid prob cant play heave minutes until the playoffs and hes just full embiid insurance if he goes down) Im not too worried about the 16-18 minutes together. And then in years 4/5 maybe Aldridge becomes strictly a backup If hes not fully effective.
I'm going with Harrison Barnes. Probably one of the best available forwards left that can switch between the 3 and 4. Shot 35.7% from downtown this past season.....Hopefully that percentage increases as he will be asked to spot up and knock down threes. Occasionally working off of screens or in the pick and roll.
think LMA is decent value here but not a good fit either skill wise or timeline wise when you have embiid and otto, you really have the potential to be in contention years 3-5 and now its a lot harder.
although since embiid is gonna miss a bunch of regular season games and you want him on a minutes restriction anyway, maybe its not so bad, you just get used to funneling your offense into the post all game, i suppose.
LMA has played with another big most of his career. LMA is a great mid range shooter and Embiid can shoot threes and again with a complete stagger they don’t have to play much together.
Josh Jackson- really became a decent player by the end of the year. Super high upside and will lock do em down one wing spot opposite Khris. Has elite defensive tools as well as the willingness to be a good defender. Good passer for his size and can run a little point forward if need be. Even if he never develops a consistent shot he can still be an impact player because of his defense and elite athleticism.
the spreadsheet indicates that since Tings was removed for allegedly trolling the draft (which is odd because Fultz / Ball probably has a higher chance of contending than multiple already selected teams), those players were available.
I’ll take Lauri Markkanen. Was down to like 5 guys but he has the highest upside and had a pretty good rookie year for an awful squad. He gives me a 4 that can shoot from deep and can hopefully play well with Adams and Curry.
i think you made it clear that they were available, and i understand the short leash with tings. my "allegedly" was tongue in cheek, i just find it funny that his team legitimately has not bottom-3 title equity imo.
Really liked what I saw when researching Lauri. Shot 36% from 3 on almost 6 attempts per game and also was an 84% from the line. His defense also wasn't as bad as anticipated which is probably the biggest positive you could see out of him year one. "The Finnisher" is also an awesome nickname.
