1 player-Mavs, Knicks, Denver, Portland, SAS, PHX, Tor, LAC, CHA

Wizards seem surprisingly high despite mediocre future IMO.

Houston only having 2 despite being the 2nd best team in the league--OLDs.

SAS only having 1 despite winning 47 games essentially without Kawhi is pretty amazing.

If LAL was able to land Kawhi, PG and Lebron--5th/6th/24th best players in this.

GSW, BOS, PHL seem really well positioned going forward. Lebron could swing things heavily depending on where he goes.

Jrue career: 2.3 STL%, 1.1 BLK%
Wall career: 2.4 STL%, 1.5 BLK%

Jrue last year: 2.0 STL%, 1.7 BLK%
Wall last year: 2.0 STL%, 2.8 BLK%

Jrue counterpart PER last 5 years: 15.8, 18.8, 21.3, 18.5, 18.1
Wall counterpart PER last 5 years :17.6 , 17.8, 16.1, 16.9, 15.8

Jrue DRPM last 5 years: +2.10, +1.18, -0.94, +0.77, +2.00
Wall DRPM last 5 years: -0.13, -1.26, +0.12, +1.73, -0.44

Jrue USG: 23.1% last year, 23.3% career
Wall USG: 29.1% last year, 27.5% career

DRPM and the recency of his best defensive season(last year) is the strongest case for Jrue. I think the Usage stat is a huge point in Wall's favor though. Also worth noting that Wall led all Wizards starters in BLK%(whereas Jrue had AD). So Wall is being asked to run the entire offense, be his teams primary rim protector, and lock up his man on D. Jrue was the 3rd option to start the year, moved over to SG halfway through the year, and has AD protecting the rim behind him. I think there is a strong case that Wall would be an elite defender if he were more of a role player who could concentrate on D.
I think the DRPM is a pretty heavy sign in Jrue's favour there (especially considering you can surely ignore the middle year where he was so injured he was coming off the bench on a minutes restriction) and am pretty comfortable saying he's the better defender. Hard to say how much of it is because of his situation though, good points about usage and AD, entirely possible Wall has the potential to be just as good or even better if he had similar advantages to what Jrue does. Anyway doesn't matter, wasn't criticizing pick, just liked the idea of you having the current All Defensive 1st Team back court :P

Popovich carried LMA & a bunch of skittles to the playoffs, i'm pretty sure he isn't anywhere close to a troll pick & while Luka was a troll first pick, he would actually be a good second pick considering the players i see in the second round.

I also think Murray is insane value at this point in the draft, he's a same level prospect to some guys taken about 20+picks ago

I'd rather have Pop for 2years than Kemba/Gary-Harris for 4-5 years.

Him going now, which I agree is about a half-round late, is the reason why the Donovan Mitchell pick is so bad. He's younger and I don't see much of a difference between the two... I guess Murray could take four more shots a game (making one) and average the same number of points and the world would be lining up to fellate him like they do DM.

Here's another, Murray>Mitchell creating 1on1 because his pull-up 2 and floater game is Kobe/Durant@20-esque... Actually a more advanced. He also has sick range for his age.

This take is actually quite mild.

Like lukewarm soup or not spicy general tso chicken.

By the way guys I tried out general tso chicken mild with white meat a few days ago and it was a significant game changer.

First: him going now has absolutely nothing to do with the Mitchell pick. Timelines, tiers, positional scarcity; there are many reasons that equating two players draft positions is basically irrelevant.

Second: they were not comparable players last year. I promise you that. Situation, defense, advanced stats; and I'm probably the second biggest Murray stan itt.

Third: You're correct that he went too late. I think he might be a favorite to be better than John Wall and Russell Westbrook over the life of this draft, but no I won't argue with anyone about that. Just my opinion

With our 3rd round pick, we're taking Jaren Jackson Jr.

With RWB and Gobert, we had a pretty obvious set of requirements for all of our upcoming picks:
- average to excellent shooting range for position
- average to excellent defensive presence
- young and athletic
- positional flexibility

Though he'll be one of the youngest players in the league next year at age 19, Jaren Jackson Jr immediately projects to be an excellent 3&D stud with the mini-potential to grow into a KG level superstar.

As for the fit on our team, he'll start and end games at the 4, and we project to have one of Gobert or JJJ on the floor at all times to anchor our defense. There's not many power forwards who slot in with his skill set and height/length, and considering we'll have RWB, we're not expecting JJJ to assume to much offensive usage outside of catch and shoot/finish opportunities.

I'm on team Murray too. I didn't really consider him for round 2 but I get the argument for him.

The comp to Mitchell is just a Nuggets fan thing since they traded the Mitchell pick and debating him vs Wall/Westbrook contains too many variables. I think debating him vs Devin Booker would be interesting discussion though.

I'm not actually sure that JJJ is a bad pick right now, but I don't think he's likely to be a + 3 point shooter anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong, and I had him tied for the #1 pick, but man he's freaking young. I'd much rather have him closing games at C in this NBA
