I honestly think Ben Simmons is a top-3 asset. He just put up a damn dominant 20.0 PER, 9.2 WS rookie season, and some people aren't impressed (Donovan Mitchell had 16.7 and 5.2 // Tatum was 15.3, 7.1).

Sure, the knock that he can't shoot is fair, and if this year's free-throws are determinant, it's not good. But considering that in college he was closer to .670 and he was .700+ for the playoffs, it's more likely that he's a better shooter than people give him credit for. He has a good looking stroke and it's not as if he can't shoot 3's, as so far he hasn't done so. I imagine Philly is going to start forcing him to take them, so it'll be interesting to see how he does next year. If he can get it to say Draymond's level, he's an all-NBA'er. If he somehow gets it to .380+? MVP - clean.

ben simmons lost to jayson tatum in the playoffs, hope that explains why hes not a top 3 player. (in a series they were 3-1 favorites or so, going in, no less). great regular season play though.

True, but Embiid was fiddling around all series with his mask, UNDRAFTED scored like 3, 22, 1, 3, 5, and Brad game-planned him. Even then, it's not like he was completely shut-down.

I expect him to be an amazing playmaker and defender who will improve his shot but it's doubtful he'll ever be better than league average at shooting.

I don't know why y'all saying him not shooting 3's is worse than him really sucking at them. I'd rather take Mystery Box over Giannis' form, for sure. I'm just thinking about the big men who never shot a 3 growing up, and then being pretty decent at it. I know gym shots are different, but there is that video too where he's stroking them back like 10+ in a row, in rhythm. I feel it makes more sense to believe that he never had to take it, than boy can't shoot.

it might be because the average distance of his shot was 5.5 feet this year. giannis is 8.4 as a comparison. gobert is 2.0.
