I have to say I don't understand this attitude, and it's common among a lot of fans.

Clubs have to do what's best for their team first and foremost. I think a lot of fans would rather sell to PSG for £55m, than Utd for £75m. This makes no sense to me.

That said, Levy is right in reportedly refusing to shift from his £75m valuation if Utd are not willing to send Martial the other way.

Toby is arguably the best central defender in the prem. Selling him to UTD would strengthen them and send out the wrong messages. Levy has his faults belive me, I'm not a fan I don't belive we will ever really compete with Levy in charge but that's another story, but give the man his doos. He's one stubborn mofo. Unless we get Martial in return I genuinely don't think he will break. I mean as a fan I don't care about that extra 20 mil. I'd rather not strengthen UTD . Subjective though and I get your point

it strengthens Utd is no much as their CBs are pretty weak. Toby is 29 though, and has missed over a full season over the last 2 years through injury.

To keep him, he apparently wants £45m over 5 years (parity with VVD). So, keeping him costs the club £120m - the £75m we'll forfeit in transfer fee, plus the cost of his new contract.

Considering we already bought his replacement last summer and has already slotted in very well, I think that money can be spent better elsewhere.

Finally, I don't think it send out any message - especially if Martial comes the other way. Poch and Kane have committed, and this improves the likelihood of most of the first team following suit.
