Fekir is interesting and a great fit I think.

Following the 14/15 season I was ready to declare him a world beater. He was rapidly becoming one of the best attackers in the world.

Then in 15/16 disaster happened of course with his knee injury and once he came back, not just me, but some close followers of Ligue 1 also, didn't think he looked the same at all.

Significantly weaker, without the same power and burst of pace, that really made him stand out as an individual difference-maker.

To be honest I kind of wrote him off late 15/16 early 16/17, at least in the lofty sense, that he was one of the most interesting players in the world.

However, meanwhile, his numbers have remained similar strong, sometimes even better (last time I looked), and especially this season (where I watched him less than ever) seems to have been really good.

I think many of his best positions are similar to Salah, with an excellent left foot, quickness and fantastic ability to thrive in the smallest spaces and quick tempo, maybe on-ball even better than Salah, if you include touches relating more to teammates than individual beasting.

Especially with a striker working and sacrificing like Firminho, there would be room and great conditions for all of them and both Salah and Fekir could be the furthest players ahead in right-central final third areas with Firminho roaming and work around them.

I definitely see Fekir more as a forward than a number 10. At least in the Coutinho sense where there are also midfielder-8 elements. I'd say Fekir more plays the attacking midfield role as a second-striker type, but again he can definitely make great things happen in quick combinations with other players. Firminho and Salah especially should be great chemistry for him.

It will also help, when playing all four forwards, the quality defensive running added with Fabinho and Keita (though obv they're more than that, especially Keita who is A LOT more).

My only worry would be whatever/if some athleticism lost with his injury history, would finally come through in the most physical league of them all, in a way, due to how good he is overall no matter what, hasn't reared it's ugly face in the numbers so far, but yeah realistically, him being such a great fit in Liverpool's attack, should make him a hit no matter what.

Yes, replacing Martial with Arnautovic would be great for some other team than United.

Martial is way better with way higher ceiling, and while this may just be agent rumor, I wouldn't even be shocked if Mourinho have fallen in love with Arnautovic added maturity and of course the one thing he really does better than Martial, his outright willingness to run backwards and defend really deep like yet another left-back.

If Martial leaves he's nailed on to go to City, Plop, Real via another club and be an absolute beast.

If you believe the supposed inside info, Martial is basically our top target. Doubt United would do business with us though. Maybe if we send Toby or someone the other way I guess.
