I'm anticipating a situation where England and Belgium win the first 2.

Germany somehow finish second in thier group. And then it's like a... Loser of England Belgium avoids the germany brazil (qf) side of the draw instead getting like Serbia Mexico (qf) side.
Then of course england beats Belgium and makes life 100 percent harder.

so many good lines in it..also I know it is besides the point but I am setting finesse to R2 and R1 is sprint. circle is crossing and square is shooting. I guess its from the PES days but honestly I cant remember. I just cant play otherwise

I haven't played a new FIFA in ages. They're anyway just DLC machines these days I hear (like all games now, I guess), but back then, PES >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FIFA ai-m'fkn-nec.

twas a long time ago. I quite like FIFA18 - especially the defending. The fact that EA made the WC DLC free is baffling to me, I guess they make ****loads on ultimate team anyways.

I stopped playing around the time some of my friends told me that FIFA had just straight up copied PES's control scheme. Which wasn't the reason for me stopping, ldo, nor did I ever confirm if that's what they actually did. Just to give a time frame. Must have been somewhere around the 2010-2012 area.

Yeah PES was much better up until they started taking lame stuff from FIFA like the 'newer' name, PES 6 >>> PES 2008 ~FIFA08 and FIFA gradually took over from there afaik

was this the year they failed to implement a normal GK AI? I think that was the year I stopped buying PES. We played stupid games like 11-8 and so on cause the keepers dropped every ball in. Shooting FKs from the halfway line was hugely +EV

Sounds pretty fun tbh, I'd totally buy that for some arcade style PES tournaments while drinking. Though I'm afraid it won't be available for PS4.

Think the biggest gulf in quality between PES and FIFA was mid 00s. In the 10-12 period FIFA caught up a lot iirc and FIFA 13 was pretty great.

NHL 14 for ps3 had a NHL 94 that everyone was super excited for and it ended up sucking badly

In general that game was like mindfckr's PES experience... Single Player completely unplayable but multiplayer on arcade was GÖATish

Well there's obviously always nostalgia involved (and there's a decent chance I'd dislike 94 if I played it today), but I'm pretty sure there are fairly large NHL 94 leagues running to this day.

Not many games age so well that they are still GÖAT ÖATish even beyond the nostalgia factor. Civ2 comes to mind. I own civ3 civ4 and civ5, and the (very) few times per year I get the urge to play one of them, I go back to civ2. Simply the best in the series. (FACT!)
