What does it say about how bad Ingerland are if they required a 91st minute winner to beat the worst side ever?

They had 0.1 xG outside of their penalty, which wasn’t a penalty.

They are terrible.

England looked completely dire in the second half. Trippier their best attacking threat. Alli invisible, thankfully they have Kane

i was impressed how many times they managed to dismantle engerlunds press by playing it out the back. tunisia have some very good technical players in defence and midfield. just didnt have the forwards who could do anything against engerlunds defence.

Yeah, I noticed that, too.

Worst side ever is one of the hottest takes I've seen on here in a while.

So many biased clueless comments about England here ITT.
The ref was a joke and there was already nerves about him before the match as he has made a bunch of controversial decsions in recent big matches. I'd be surprised if he's in charge of any more matches in this world cup because he had an absolute stinker.

This was always going to be a tough match as Tunisia are ranked the highest team in Africa at 21. They are dirty bastards though and do everything they can to get decisions to go their way. Contest/cry about every decision going against them and lol at that idiots play acting like someone had set his face on fire when they were awarded a very soft penalty.

Then minutes later Kane gets wrestled to the ground which was a glaring penalty and the VAR wasn't used. Same defender does the same in second half and nothing.

Kane didn't whine about it and got on with it and took his chance well for second goal.

England played the best free flowing stuff for most of the first half that ive seen so far having watched every match. Poor finishing though and should have been 3 ahead.

Second half they were not as good but still dominated. Would have been difficult to keep the pace of the first half anyway. Best performance for England in a major championship for a long long time. And the likes of Sterling and Ali were not firing.

Loftus Cheek looked good when he came on and Rashford dangerous too.

This was such a crucial game to win or at least not lose and will beat Panama easily.

Good riddens to Tunisia imo. the World Cup doesn't need teams playing like this and trying any tactics they can to get decisions goin their way. Was annoying to watch.

The expectation from English press and pundits has just sky rocketed though ha. And although Tunisia are pretty solid they are no Belgium so will be an interesting match there although it will probably be for 1st and 2nd in the group.

With the first Kane peno shout, I think the VAR guys may have seen it but the massive shove by Stones on the Tunisian marking him probably evened things out.

I'm assuming that as well. But if he's not, then welcome to the World Cup threads. The amount of stupid that comes out of the woodwork has been impressive in the (too many) years I've been posting here

The hottest of takes, it was.

Kane playing as a lone striker and mocking that he's the one scoring the goals b2b Trippier being the best player on the pitch b2b Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick for Portugal/being by far and away the biggest carrier of a team, what a great post.

This... is... the group stage.

All of Portugal's goals were scored by Ronaldo, and they still only drew. Messi failed to score at all, and Argentina also drew.

It is generally a requirement to score more goals than the opposition in order to win the match. You didn't know this, evidently.

In addition, rugby tackles such as those performed by the Tunisian players on Kane are allowed under the Union code, if the man has the ball, but not under the Association code which the referee should have been observing. Presumably the referee went to Rugby and not Eton. (They don't play rugger at Eton, as Bertie Wooster often points out in the works of PG Wodehouse.)

Again.
Unlike the rest of you dear, sweet, fluffy-headed children I can remember 1966. I was watching that afternoon. I don't think the point needs making again, really. That would be vulgar.

Oh, and the legendary BBC commentator on that match, Ken Wolstenholme, was, in summer 1941, a sergeant pilot serving in an RAF bomber squadron commanded by my uncle.
