dont think you can win tourneys that consistently (~50%) when playing a style which relies on your opps making mistakes

mourinho has proven that with his very poor 2/15 success record in the CL despite having the most expensive team in the competition the majority of the time

but the fact that mourinho is one of the most successful managers of all time while consistently making lol decisions (selling KDB, salah and lukaku for a combined 60m, going ultrabus against sevilla, mctominay > pogba, harassing the physio to name some recent ones) does suggest that its almost true

I thought, after Varane, Mbappé and Modric, Trippier would’ve been the next nailed on member of the team. Kane and Ronaldo shouldn’t be there. Perisic or Hazard and Griezmann or Cavani for me.

Agree that that generation of players is a GOAT contender but they were boring and in 2010 pretty lucky. Won all their KO games 1-0, Paraguay missed a 80th minute pen before Spain scored on the counter, te Robben chance in the final. Every world champion needs luck ofc but I'd say in those situations they were closer to goong out than France 2018 or Germany 2014 ever were.
