You have to understand the era they are growing up in though. They need a wee bit of rope. In two three years we are going to be talking about some different names.

I still wish they'd start the TV coverage earlier but blah nut low time zone is nut low time zone I guess. One of the younger guys is gonna make the final...and get demolished by Fed.

Re: 2017 Wimbledon: The Fortnight

Nah you're good bro. Glad you started it. LETTUCE WIMBY!!!!!

Federer attempting to cement his GOAT status even further and the women's draw on a combination of weed and cocaine are the story lines.

MENS DRAW

Andy Murray Section

The top seed in the tournament has been nothing short of a mixed bag in 2017 but the draw is rather friendly. Kyrgios could pose a threat in round 4 but that's assuming he's even willing to battle through the likes of Paire and Pouille. Querrey looms and I use that word in the lightest sense possible and only mention him because he's defending mad puntos. In his defense the draw isn't that terrible although I'd prefer to back Kevin Anderson to blow things up. Wawrinka is here but does nothing for me and Tsonga is very clearly on the back 9 of his career.

Winner: Murray
R1 Match to Watch: K Anderson vs Verdasco
Potential Face Melter: Haas over Wawrinka R2

Rafael Nadal Section

No faith in Rafa on grass no matter what kind of concoction he's on. Roland Garros this time around was a different kind of special and a hangover is on the horizon. Khachanov has game and I'm looking for the upset in the second round. Muller is the real sleeper here though but I expect Cilic to handily roll through even with the likes of Steve Johnson and Nishikori in his way. Kei is going to fall right into Ferrer land when it comes to career major hardware.

Winner: Cilic
R1 Match to Watch: Troicki v Mayer
Potential Face Melter: Khachanov over Nadal R2

Roger Federer Section

The GOAT is primed to add to his legacy and I like the draw. Of course Dolgopolov will play his role of annoying gnat for a set or so in round 1 but from there it's smooth sailing. Baby Fed, Dimitrov peaked earlier in the year and crawls into a hole when his daddy is on the other side of the net. The young German in Zverev is his biggest threat and we all witnessed how he handled that "problem" a few weeks ago. That leaves Raonic who is trending in the wrong direction which likely keeps my he'll never win a major rhetoric safe for another go round. Maybe Fritz could provide a few fireworks for us Americans out there because **** Isner.

Winner: Federer
R1 Match to Watch: Isner vs Fritz
Potential Face Melter: Mahut over Raonic R2

Novak Djokovic Section

It's tough to make sense of Novak these days because he isn't exactly playing badly but the peak he set for himself in prior years shows up on a less consistent basis. With that being said you have to like the value of his chances this week fresh off a tournament victory. Thiem on grass ain't happening, Berdych has one foot in the grave and Monfils hasn't done a damn thing here. Del Po might prove the only true hurdle. Yes, Deliciano Lopez comes in oozing confidence with his fantastic run at Queens but his track record provides little reason to instill faith.

Winner: Djokovic
R1 Match to Watch: Gasquet v Ferrer
Potential Face Melter: Tipsarevic over Thiem R3

Semis: Murray over Cilic, Federer over Novak
Final: Federer over Murray

WOMENS DRAW

Angelique Kerber Section

Like the entire women's draw this section can go 1 of 46 ways. Kerber could find form but I wouldn't bet on it. Muguruza who has gone deep here could find a way but she's shown poor form in her 2 losses on grass leading up to this. Radwanska is a shell of herself and then you have lurkers such as gold medalist Puig, Safarova and Bethanie Mattek-Sands. I'm high on Puig pulling the upset against Bacsinszky, so she'll likely read this and make a deep run. One name I like is Kuznetsova. Yes her results here have been mediocre at best but I really like the draw and there's a theme here.

Winner: Kuznetsova
R1 Match to Watch: Puig v Bacsinszky
Potential Face Melter: Mattek-Sands over Muguruza R3

Karolina Pliskova Section

You're going to hear a lot about Pliskova this tournament. She's on the verge, she's knocking on the door, she's due. All those fun little headlines. We've heard it before and not a doubt she's capable but I'm rolling the dice on someone who has been trying to grab a Grand Slam for a bit longer. Yup it's Woz. Sticking with the veteran theme Pironkova in R2 doesn't scare me ever as a past giant slayer on grass. I'm not sold on threats like Coco and Mladenovic who may not even make it that far. So that leaves a Pliskova showdown. Zero chance Pliskova isn't waiting in the quarters for someone in the bottom part. Anything can happen here.

Winner: Wozniacki
R1 Match to Watch: Riske v Stephens
Potential Face Melter: Riske over Mladenovic R2

Elina Svitolina Section

This by far might be the softest section of the draw with the most unpredictability. Svitolina hasn't shown much on grass although I sense she'll bury some demons from past failures, including the recent French Open fiasco. Cibulkova scares no one given her current form, I didn't even know Lisicki still played tennis and Keys has possibly already shown us her peak level. That leaves the veteran Venus whose dealing with some off court issues and Roland Garros Champion Ostapenko as prime candidates to emerge. Life changes with expectations but the young Latvian acts as if she's someone who plans to be here for a little while but I'll stick with the veteran theme and run with Williams here.

Winner: Venus
R1 Match to Watch: Giorgi v Cornet
Potential Face Melter: The entire section

Simona Halep Section

If Halep couldn't win the French under the circumstances she was dealt can she realistically ever win one? People are certainly getting tired of predicting the breakthrough and with a heavyweight like Petra in the section I'm not backing her. Kvitova is still somewhat of a question mark as well but her warm up victory leading up to this tournament has to instill a sense of confidence. Hometown girl Konta will look to ride the crowd support wave deep although things could get tricky with Vekic waiting in R2 to deal her back to back matchup losses on grass. Genie is also in this section which means **** these days but we do get what is my most anticipated 1st round matchup in Azarenka vs Bellis. Betting odds are even, this is Azarenka's first Grand Slam after having her child and Bellis is trying to build on her Roland Garros success as a rising star in the game. Should be fun.

Winner: Kvitova
R1 Match to Watch: Azarenka v Bellis
Potential Face Melter: Bouchard over Halep R2 (Excuse to post a pic)

Semis: Wozniacki over Kuznetsova, Venus over Kvitova
Final: Wozniacki over Venus and the entire tournament becomes a face melter

I really feel there was no chance Fed/Nadal were ever going to be on the same half of the draw.

I just didn't wanna pick Pliskova or Kvitova to win. I know it's crazy, hell I had Svitolina at first.

Kyrgios needs to bite the bullet and have surgery if that's how he's going to play

Commentator: rain was expected, it's part of the tradition of Wimbledon, players are used to it.

Doesnt make it any less aids that we don't have a single match without players leaving the court because of the rain. Sigh

i gave up rooting for petko quite some time ago. it's just too frustrating to watch her first class choking skills on display.
winning the second set now is just part of the script. watch.

Can't wait for Isner-Mahut length match from Cibulkova Petkovic, but this time it's because both of them suck at serving.

Saw that. I get that she can't discuss it because litigation ongoing but there had to be a better way to handle that. It's not like the ?'s are gonna stop. In fact I expect many more now
