I enjoyed week 1 so far. Watched RedZone for the early games, watched all late games + SNF (+TNF) in their 40 minute version this morning...some meh games but it's pro football back on the screen whatever.
Have now watched about half the early games in the 40 minute cut as well and will watch a couple of selected games in coaches cam around the end of the week when I have watched all games in 40. The goal is to watch every snap at least once this season.

We'll see how that goes once time constraints get worse I'll likely settle for early game RedZone + all other games in 40 + Raiders game in 40 if during RedZone like I did last season (I also skipped some games that seemed boring/were irrelevant last season).

As a Chiefs fan I couldn't have enjoyed week 1 more.

Week 1 was terrible in comparison to some weeks. But it was still goat because the gap between no nfl is so huge. That "bad weeks" are still elite imo

Someone's gonna get on Romo about this I bet. Stop giving away lazy predictability.

Was he ever wrong with his predictions?

Also would be nice as a viewer if he explained why he thought/knew it was going to be a run to the left, etc.

I noticed a couple of these calls on RedZone without realizing it was Romo (the fade which was close enough as that's a fade/slant). I remember thinking to myself "who is this guy, he seems too competent".

I might rewatch the entire game in broadcast. Would be nice to have a commentator who can actually read a play for a change. Do we know what game Romo is on next week? Good audition for a coaching job :P

If he was a bit less smug about it and would provide more details that would be fantastic.

Dude - he said "because I've played football for 15 years". What more could you ask for?

It's also been mentioned but worth repeating that he had some 2+2 approved end of half clock management advice as well.

I mean he often would after the play when there's time but it's kinda hard to get all that explanation in during the three seconds between recognition and snap

Gonna be funny when he calls a game with two bad QB's and offenses. His prediction success rate may crater due to inability of the QB's and coaches to see what he's noticing.

If I were King - John McEnroe would do color commentary for all sporting events. He can learn whatever he needs to and still be better than 99% of what's out there.

Wk 2 : Pats v Saints
Wk 3 : Bengals v Packers
Wk 4 : Bears v Packers (Thurs night)
Wk 4 : Raiders v Broncos

Is Romo's available broadcasting sched. Not too bad.

That's a pretty decent lineup

Totally random side note...most Americans probably won't know these folks but I think some of the most interesting sports commentators are the guys working for Eurosport. They basically have two guys for each language who do all the sports they cover which is a lot as it's a 24h sports channel that has all sorts of sports from cycling to boat racing to volleyball. I think that's how it works. I only know the German guys but it's amazing how much (deep) knowledge they have in a wide range of sports.

That's a fantastic lineup. Mostly because there's good QBs on the list. Very much looking forward to Pats v Saints and at least one Rodgers game. Will be most interested in how "predictable" the Pats offense is.
I also noticed all the predictions are from the Raiders, none from the Titans (iirc). Should I be worried?

I'd be totally happy with having current ex athletes talking to each other about how they see the game playing out while also ribbing and being normal humans watching sports.

Think of all the ways sports could blow up if people liked and learned from what they're listening to

Like i could listen to pedro and whoever talk about pitch sequencing, setting up the off speed or to bring the HEAT

Football. You get a guy like romo and a defensive player talking about in game adjustments and play calls. Way more dynamic of a game feel. Their passion shows through on camera too when they're animated and loving the game.
