Which brings us to the whole problem with English and London food, there is basically no authentic local food, which has a massive negative effect on the quality of food offering as whole in England and in London as it means there is no reference point. England only really has authentic fine dining and fish and chips.

I ate great Greek and Italian food in Baton that was reasonable and not pretentious. It had to be great becuase the offering of local food were so good. London does not have that motivation. You can get good burgers in London thou.
It's possible to find at least one authentic take on pretty much any world cuisine in London, as there are restaurants out there catering mainly to particular immigrant groups - ie a Vietnamese restaurant mainly frequented by Vietnamese immigrants. I agree with the general sentiment of your post though, good authentic food isn't as ubiquitous as your average Londoner would like to believe, although it is out there if you're willing to look.

Shout out to Andre for having Lebanese (catch all term for Middle-Eastern) food #1 on his power rankings, almost makes up for the fact that lolFrance is in second place.

London and everyone in it has seemed miserable every time I've been there. It's way too busy, it's expensive as **** and most of the people come off as arseholes. Never been to Paris outside of Disneyland when I was a kid but if it's not obviously better than London I'll give it a miss thanks.

Since when is England a food destination you people can't be serious
I think you know very little about food in London and just equate it with the average British food. There's really no other explanation. On average France >>> England for food, zero doubt. But I'd actually be willing to argue that London is the GOAT place for food in the world. Both for the highest of high end food and the random street food place. You get everything and you get the best of everything, too.

Ok since I'm a scientist I'll go with molecular food. I'll offer Fat Duck (GOAT imo) for London and Noma in Copenhagen (as those are the only two high end molecular food places I've been to from my list). Best place for that in Paris?

I'm German so neither British nor English. If anything I should be biased in favour of France since I have lived there for >2 years. London is better. Paris is still great don't get me wrong but you seem to underrate London by a lot. I can see a reasonable argument for Paris being better but that argument would end with "but it's really close".
In my personal opinion...London actually wins by a good margin (like I said I think it's #1 in the world...granted I'm not an expert on Russia, Asia and only vaguely familiar with the US so if I'd have to guess NYC is probably in the mix)

i loved the food in brussels when i visited there in 2008.

Also since I'm in Korea I ****ing love basically all of the food here other than the seafood.

Meat and veggie dishes awesome, noodle dishes awesome. I love the soups they serve too.

1. Valencia
2. Vienna

Paris really surprised me with the universally poor quality of their coffee. Has the best art museum in the world though (d'Orsay, of course, not Louvre), so there's that. FWIW, best dinner of my recent 3-month trip across Europe was in Bordeaux.

Never heard anyone complain about our coffee tbh, when I went to new York otoh I tried brown piss in a giant cup, it really tasted like hot whatever.

CT, It's possible most of you Saxons and Anglo Saxons have a case of cold feet when it comes to cheese, that's the only explanation I can find for London>Paris.

I'd easily rate NYC and LA higher than London for world food. LA is elite especially for East Asian food.

Lots of good eating in NoCal too.

For midrange food, NYC beats London with a clear margin. I've never been able to stay in LA for long, so no comment on food there. Remember eating some nice meals, but overall hating the city.

I've never been to L.A., but to the Bay Area, and the Chinese food I've had there was so god damned awesome, words cannot describe it.

London is so expensive that there isn't really a mid range that's its main problem.

Actually just took a weekend trip to London a few weeks ago, which was pretty amazing (minus Arsenal losing to Stoke). It really burned home the fact that I I'm a pathetic poor, but I imagine Paris is somewhat similar. Lived in Japan for five years and never had Japanese food in another country that felt as authentic than the place we went to in London.

I'm very apologetic for not speaking the local language when traveling, but still think I'd be pretty annoyed dealing with endless amount of French who act like it's the biggest inconvenience of their life to say a few words in English.

Also, my British mate said that the Arsenal pub we went to was the quietest and most polite pubs he'd ever been to in his life. They served IPAs and Thai food, which was a different experience than I was expecting.

Messi extended untol 2021, about 40kk before taxes. Payment is split between image rights, salary and Messi foundation to avoid taxes. Not announced with contract picture etc. yet due to some mysterious reasons but Barca Twitter announced it already. Boring. lays.gif
