still, a decent talent though.
He is an absolute offensive beast. Great assists, almost impossible to stop, very fast, hips made of rubber. Whenever he played there was immediate danger on that side. Defensively he's mediocre but he's an amazing weapon. He'll fit the Neymar role perfectly. Most spectacular player I have ever seen live, watched 100% of his games for us obviously.

Watzke has denied it and there is no ad-hoc message yet but it feels like they are in the "get the paperwork proofread" stages. I expect everything to be done by tomorrow or after the Berlin game.

We have no plan. The squadis getting older and worse. City, pool and United have had good windows. We keep adding one player a year while the rest of the team doesn't extend.

Hulkosinac and Lacazette in is a good thing. Young CBs added previously as well with Holding/Chambers...one of them seems pretty good, but if we sell Mustafi to make room for another bigger signing Im all for it(not all that convinced by him). Offloading Gabriel/Perez makes perfect sense as well.

Think we had a decent window thus far... all things considered. Sanchez staying for this season might be short sighted or we are freeing up some wage space to pay the man his money.

Let us rate our window after it closes though...a lot can change in a week

Höwedes to Juve seems close. Man, what a summer of exits

Well Höwedes was basically driven out. Not sure how I feel about it tbh...seemed like a pretty bizzaro thing

Yeah he was. I don't blame him one bit. I guess Tedesco didn't have him in his plans, but getting rid of good players (or buying expensive ones) on a new coach's whim is rarely a good idea. It might be different if we could see the defense of the future coming but atm our back three is Naldo who's close to dying on the pitch, Nastasic who wanted to leave this summer and Kehrer who had already signed with Inter two years ago. Backed up by players who were signed as DMs one and two years ago. LOL

I really wonder wether starting now there'll be anyone but Sidney Sam types staying here for longer than two or three years. Seems like everyone's gonna be gone quickly because they're either too good or not good enough.

Lacazette and Kolasinac look like great additions. But we're at least 2-3 more players away from being serious contenders. I just don't know how Wenger can look at this squad and think it doesn't need more improvements.

It's also just so Arsenal that we're the one team on planet Earth who couldn't get the Monaco player we wanted this summer, when they're being ravaged by anyone and everyone, even apparently their direct rivals.

city DoF tixi bergstain has said that signing messi the worlds best player is impossible, and signing mbappe the most sought after young player is also impossible, but that he hopes to complete the signing of johnny evans very soon

getting maine road flashbacks

3 of our best 10 players are set to leave for free next season and 2 of these are our overwhelming top 2 players. That is a disaster. No other way to spin it.

Looks like the Serge Aurier deal to Spurs is almost a lock. Medical today: https://twitter.com/GFFN/status/900844777771601924

Will they even let him into England?

That is pathetic even for our standards

Oops..van dijk discussing terms with us apparently. Doom and gloom indeed...

We also want to sell Wilshere. A team like Bmouth or CP would prolly pay 15-20mill and we would get him off the books.

Question regarding this.

Wenger said recently that more and more players are going to run their contracts down in order to move and get a bigger pay for themselves Lewa comes to mind. Possibly Zlatan as well but he wouldn’t have got a huge fee at his age.

Anyway, is that just him coming out with an excuse? Surely it’s jist been incompetance from the board letting both their contracts get to this stage - plus the wage demands probably had a massive, well is the issue here in that they haven’t been given/accepted new contracts.

How often do Arsenal get their players to sign improved deals as well? Not new contracts or extensions but bumper new deals for the same period. Like what we done with DDG or Plop done with Suarez to keep him happy before his move etc

That has to be a leak with Arsenal as well? We will never know but wounder if they’d have signed new contracts I’d say 2-3 years ago after the FA cups wins for example they got a pay increase whether they’d be more likely to have already signed a new one or not. It would also very likely already have them on the wages of their peers at similar ability levels - excluding ozil obv as he wouldn’t get the wage he’s wanting at any other European club.

Of course it is.

Why would a player sign a 3-yeard deal at £100k a week (total value £15.6m), when they can sign a 5-year deal for the same weekly wage (total value £26m)?

The second deal means the player has the security of an extra £10m if they lose form, or suffer a career ender.

More importantly, the agent is guaranteed an extra 2 years income for no extra work.

Wenger doesn't seem to have considered any of this.

Well, if clubs are going to get serious about not allowing players to leave with five years left on their deals, the math changes.

Ya pretty much this, if teams start putting their foot down on xfers, youll see players sign shorter contracts to have more say in when/where they can move.

Maybe. I still think longer deals are marginally in the player's interest (especially when they are younger), and 100% in the agent's interest.

Either way, Wenger's just making excuses for his and the board's own failings with this 3-year contract stuff.

if it starts to happen fine, but it won't change Arsenal losing their best two players through incompetence.
