I hope we keep and play him. £35m in this climate is ridiculous.

Re: 2017 Football Summer Transfer Thread

definitely smart for us to offer it to united (if we did). small chance of getting him after some haggling, and a near certainty that it prods at his obvious unhappiness at getting no chances despite being twice the player as some of those ahead of him.

Re: 2017 Football Summer Transfer Thread

All this transfer news relating to Spurs just emerging out of nowhere after not really hearing a sniff all summer is making me thing it's really just an attempt to keep the Rose story quiet while giving the fans/players a buzz before the trip to Newcastle.

The Sanchez deal looks possible, but no way we are getting Martial - although waiting till after Utd bought Matic so they wouldn't go hard on Dier going the other way was a smart move.

Cant believe Coutinho actually wants to join Barca after playing for Espanyol, shame on him. No loyalty.

Martial would be a sweet move for the Spurs and I'd rather see him playing for poch than mou.

Will be interesting to see how Dortmund and Pool deal whit their hissy fitty players who want to join Barca.

I know how we would approach things, just stand firmly and sell them way too late for us to get anyone half-decent in as a replacement.

Re: 2017 Football Summer Transfer Thread

Why would you want to keep a player that is so desperate to leave? Dont get me wrong I think Coutinho is a good player but sweet **** he isn't a £100m footballer. Take the money and go invest, Im sure they have scouted a few players since Klopp took over so now is the chance to go get them. The longer they leave it, the worse it is going to be.

Dunno what Liverpool fans think but I'd rather lose Coutinho than Mane.

Ross Barkley will ignore the furore over Tottenham's wage structure to swap Goodison Park for North London, according to talkSPORT.

Barkley is prepared to agree terms on a £70,000 a week deal in order to sign for Mauricio Pocettino's side despite having turned down a £100,000 a week offer to stay at Everton.

Following the breakdown in talks boss Ronald Koeman announced that the England midfielder was no longer part his his plans which has ignited Spurs' interest.

Re: 2017 Football Summer Transfer Thread

Both Coutinho and Dembélé long terms contracts and if they want their moves next summer they'll have to keep performing. I think the risk that Plop and Dortmund are taking by keeping them around is overstated.

Both clubs are trying to make Barca pay over the odds because they just got 220mm and are desperate. If they now do sell and get a hundred odd million for their player, now they'd be the ones desperate for replacement- makes investing the money well hard.

because they have contracts and cant accept lowballing* offer just because a player's inner child is throwing a hissy fit.

Hate to say it but Levy really organised the stadium stuff well and both Alli and Kane need to fire their agents.

*common knowledge how much they got for Neymar only, clubs will naturally want 30-40million more over the real value of the player

Mane > coutinho is a not so spicy take that I think plop fans would agree with. I hope so anyway. Mane is simply incredible

Diego Costa has launched a scathing attack on Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and threatened to go on strike for a year if he is not sold.

In a frank interview with the Daily Mail, Costa says:

"In January, things happened with the coach. I was on the brink of renewing my contract and they put the brakes on it. I suspect the manager was behind it. He asked for that to happen. I have seen the sort of person he is."
"I've spoken to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. I said, "If the manager doesn't want me, I want to go to Atletico Madrid". I have rejected other offers. They want to sell me to China or other teams."
"If I have to I will stay in Brazil. I am open to being a year in Brazil without playing, even if Chelsea fine me for a year and don't pay me."
Quote:
First Diego Costa, and now Cesar Azpilicueta, who does not sound like he is too impressed with Chelsea's summer signings.

The Premier League champions have seen a number of players leave this summer while just four senior additions have been made.

And Azpilicueta says: “When you see the players we have lost and the players we have signed, they are not the same.

"Obviously, we have very good young players, but we have to know the reality that being champions is even harder the next season – we have experience of that."
