Stanley is no ****ing top 5 ruckman but he is still pretty solid and will win I reckon the hit outs 35% of the time. Plus be a much bigger target around Collingwood's opposing number.

Worst part is their style. It's so pragmatic and defensive and boring. What do they even average scoring wise outside of Geelong. 70? Less? Good grief.

Hawkins not kicking goals and no half forward. It is a recipe for disaster and I can't see them advancing until Hawkins re-discovers some form but then again opposition teams can afford to play 2 defensive players on him because we don't have any other targets. The solution that I can see is to drop Rohan, play Harry Taylor up forward and bring in Henderson (why Kolodjashnij replaced Henderson when he's looked in good form the last couple of weeks I'll never know but similarly when you play those rookies and Narkle ahead of even S Selwood that defies belief when the game is so big).

Do i have it right that Pies would potentially play the loser of Richmond-Brisbane, assuming said loser could beat a non-top 4 team next week?

On the jersey clash last night and Collingwood's complaints, it was pretty hard to pick up but there were key points in the game where Geelong actually handed it over to Collingwood in possession when they handballed it straight to a Collingwood player thinking it was a Geelong player. I could not recall any similar moments for Collingwood where they gave up possession like that.

I'm going to wake up tomorrow and not look at any AFL updates until just before the game starts and hope to see Henderson in for Miers or Narkle with Taylor to go up forward. Geelong has like 7-8 first team defenders and deficiencies up forward in kicking goals (too many stoppage forwards) so you'd think that one or 2 of them need to be sent up forward to help out even if it is one or 2 goals or that they create a contest with the high ball so the likes of Ablett, Dangerfield and Dalhaus can get the contested ball and kick a few goals.

Better performance last night in dispatching the Eagles brought a lot in part by having a ruckman. Also thought Ablett and Selwood were instrumental and they finally came out of the gates strong which was telling at the end there. But I'm disappointed too as it looks like Hawkins will be missing next week against the tigers and so that really should mean IMO that Harry Taylor goes forward as he is probably the 2nd best contested mark in the team (or maybe 3rd behind Danger) and Henderson come in for Taylor. I know it is hard to mess with the backline but our options up forward are not that great.

Really looked like they were going to collapse and lie down and lose at one point. Did really well to recollect themselves and shut the Eagles down in the last 1.5 quarters.
