I really want to defend Roland Garros since I love clay so much, but it's simply impossible due to the Futures level organization. Although I'm sure there are Futures events with lights.

At least you don't live in the US. NBC's coverage is atrocious. The only thing I think NBC covers well is Sunday Night Football because it's pretty hard to **** that up.

It's not great for me either, but that's during every Grand Slam. Dutch broadcasting stops at 18:00 and often prioritizes awful WTA matches over interesting ATP ones and the latter is the same with Eurosport 1.

That happens here too, but that's more because American women have been a lot better than American men. Tennis Channel is pretty good at actually showing more of the matches you want to see, but everyone else seems to love the WTA over the ATP.

Really don't agree Novak peeked during a lull in tennis, just a few years ago we were still throwing the term "big 4" around pretty consistently. Sometimes a great player can make it appear there to be a lull where there truly is not one, perhaps this is a little bit of one on the back-end of his prime but the front end certainly had someone pretty tough customers.

On clay? Probably still Nadal. Wawrinka can obviously do it, and I think Thiem could, but he is probably still a year or so away.


That being said, today I put a little money on Thiem and Gasquet winning the tournament. But of course I expect it to be Murray and Djokovic in the finals with Djokovic winning in 4 sets.

There are a lot of promising young players. In 3 or 4 years we could easily have 4 or 5 players with similar equity to win a slam. I think it will be fun to watch in a different kind of way rather than having the GOAT on clay, the 2nd GOAT, and now the actual GOAT trying to cement his legacy and pretty much every one else drawing dead.

It's also interesting since being older is now fine in tennis. Federer was probably the first person to really show this as he didn't really start breaking out until 21-22 whereas Nadal was dominating as a teenager.
