So what's deal with Tebow?
I remember hearing he put up crazy passing numbers in HS, but he was used last year as essentially a running back taking a direct snap.

Does he have pro potential?
Will he get the chance to show it now that he's the main man?

I think he'll be a decent pro prospect. Definitely will probably have learning curve issues with the spread at UF (much like Alex smith did). but i think he should be okay.

LSU was positively dominating against VT. They moved that ball almost at will. Flynn was very impressive, Perrilloux got in on some important plays and did well, and Keiland Williams showed that he is going to be a hell of a force the next couple of years. The offense really, honestly, looked good. Furthermore, sophomores are some of the best playmakers right now, so in a couple of years this good offense will be scary. The O-line seemed much better than against MS State.

LSU's defense was dominating. Steltz has taken over for LaRon Landry at safety and is the baddest white boy in all the land (with all respect to Jacob Hester) -- cat has 4 interceptions in 2 games! Short term variance, I know, but this guy has real skills. He got plenty of pt last year playing behind Landry and is gonna get drafted -- he was all over the field this game. Front seven is, as you know, sick and it showed against VT. We shut those boys down.

In short, we performed such that IMO we should be considered as #1 in the country right now. (If I had a vote I would split it with USC.)

Haven't you seen his stats this year? Obviously vs mediocre opponents but he's been insanely accurate. No INTs yet & he has the best passer rating in the country I believe. He's run the ball awesome this year as well, still running bitches over, hence my title/location. UF's offense is one of the best in the nation simply because of him. They are in 4 town territory from anywhere on the field. You can't let the Gators get in 3rd and short or 4th and short in good position because he will not be denied with an awesome OL/FB/RB in front/along side him. We just have too much talent and options in that area.

Tennessee is going to have to put men in the box and force him to throw deep/across the middle and hope to force turnovers. No way they win if for some reason they decide to play zone. Dan Mullen/Urban Meyer are best at ball control offense despite what many think which is how the Gators were effective on offense last year.

Why wouldn't he have a chance to show it? UF has the deepest/best WR core in the nation that has only got deeper the past 2 games.

As for pro potential, he has a ton of upside. Very strong arm & throws the deep ball very well. His mechanics were not great but he got a lot fixed in the off season and looks really good now with a very good release. The only thing he really struggles with that would hurt him in the pros is like a 15 yard out route. Most people have issues with that but he seems to lose quite a bit of velocity on those balls.
His deep ball/crossing routes are much better than Leak he just has to work on dropping balls in behind DBs in intermediate/short routes, he has some issues with like wheel routes, etc.

Stafford played ok

the trouble was the freshman on the o-line. a few more games and they'll be fine

It was Spurrier and the growth of Florida HS football that changed that. It was merely a return to the norm with UGA winning again the past 5-6 years.

I mean power since the SEC split in 1992.

Agreed. I was disappointed in the loss but not all hope is gone. We should some flares of greatness and definitely did not play up to our potential.

This game was lost at the line of scrimmage. With the exception of a few plays, we couldn't consistently run and USC ran all over us, most notably when we had to stop them w/ 5 min left. This is due to a rookie line.

Stafford played fine. He didn't win the game I guess..he didn't lose it either (no INT's this season? Quite an improvement). I look forward to more of him.

The receivers played ok. A couple great grabs...a couple of key drops.

If you were watching, we were very close to winning this game despite being outplayed by USC thanks to Staffords leadership at the end. A few penalties and a few drops kept us out of the endzone.

Also, I would be really surprised if Richt leaves. I think this discussion is way off base. The fans at UGA love him despite his conservative play calling. Last season was a rebuilding year and before that he had an amazing record specifically in away games. With a few exceptions I really like that Richt handing over playcalling to Bobo (that playaction super playfake on fourth sucked though). Richt's recruiting and player management (w/ the exception of say the loss of lockdown CB Oliver). The loyalty to Richt is there, Ive not really heard anyone say anything bad about him in all my time in Athens.

Look to UGA to play out a decent season as Moreno and Stafford find their groove.

Look for them to dominate next two years as the young offense gets more experience and Bobo finds the right balance of plays.

I will happily admit that I know very little about handicapping. However, the Bama run D did not look good against Vandy (and no I don't think Vandy is good). Before that game I really thought we would beat Arky, but now I'm not so sure. The only thing I don't really know about is the Arky D. I know they lost their #1 CB to the NFL and I think that they lost a very good DL too. Idk, I hope you're right MT2R.

My bad. He was one of those sophomores I was talking about. He certainly made some greats plays. Between him, Williams and Perrilloux, man 2009 is looking really really nice. TGF is pushing all this young talent for the Gators, and indeed they will be good, but the way it's shaping up now, LSU will have the offense that is the envy of CFB in two years, not UF.

The biggest factor that might not make this true is that Tebow is (literally) a preacher's son, while Perrilloux could land his ass in jail (or on the Cincinnati Bengals).

Ridiculously early prediction: Ryan Perrilloux will either be in New York when the 2009 Heisman is announced, or in Angola State Prison.

Greg, I think the differences in the offense will probably be negligible in 2 years, Tebow will be a Senior and most likely still in school. UF should have a small edge next year. They are fairly close this year.

Either way, we aren't used to seeing SEC shootouts, and we might see one in the 09 LSU-UF game.

The Vandy/Bama game was a battle to see which QB could take a bigger [censored] on the field. Nickson went out hurt, and Wilson improved in the second half. Still, ugly performances by both guys.

I don't think MS State is quite as LOL as most people seemed to think. I would not be surprised to see them win a couple more that they "should" not. I'm really happy for Sylvester Croom.

I dont ever remember state having a decent QB. Honestly, besides Spencer Pennington (I give him a break bc he was a backup), the worst SEC QB I think Ive ever seen was when Kevin Fant played for state like 3-5 years ago. Guy just couldnt make the throws that a college QB has to.

I'd like to brag about Georgia's win today, but it was against Western Carolina. And even then Stafford still looked totally lost in that 1st quarter.
