92 team wins easy IMO because the sum is greater than the whole of its parts. Those guys played as a team, something later team USAs have had huge problems with and there is no reason todays superstars would be any better at it. Look no further than Dallas over Miami last year for an example of a less talented team winning.

Too much size and depth for 92. I agree with those who say a fully healthy, optimal 2012 team would likely be favored though. But as constructed, I don't think it's that close.

Not to burst everyones bubble and I didn't read all 5 pages of this thread but comparing a team that was a collection of greats compared to a team that is trying to win a gold medal when international teams are much better isn't exactly apples to apples...

The '92 team was just a collection of greats from 80s/90s regardless of what points they were at in their careers. This team is a team now with roleplayers on it, with guys who aren't among the best in the NBA right now on it.

If you compared '08 to '92 and gave '08 KG/Duncan to go with the other '08 guys that would be a little more fair.

2012 destroys the 1992 team.

Players are just much bigger, faster, stronger now. Carmelo weights the same as D Rob. LeBron is 25+ lbs heavier than Ewing.

The '92 team played in an era where the rules were radically different from FIBA. A team of stars used to playing with illegal defense would struggle massively vs bigger, faster players under FIBA rules. The fact that the '92 team couldn't shoot the 3 except for a few guys who are practically unplayable vs the 2012 makes it really tough on the Dream Team.

Except for the fact that D Rob would be the best 2 way center in the L today. Don't forget Hakeem too. In 92 the C position was much stronger. Hell Smits would beast against most guys nowadays.

Id give '12 the edge but it's b/c of Lebron, CP3, and Durant. Lebron is the most unique athlete in NBA history but Durant and CP3 could've been found at most times in league history. CP3 is small and Durant is a better Gervin. You could argue Pippen is the 2nd sickest combo of size/speed/strength next to Lebron.

Dream Team I would be so much better off in this hypothetical if they woulda picked Isaiah.
