It's not actually in Scotland, which kind of sucks. Past champions on this course include world beaters like Ben Curtis and Darren Clarke, as well as others known for nerves of steel in majors like Greg Norman. A lot of top contenders have also bowed out due to some pretty re-tarded COVID rules that are in place. But for some reason I have a feeling this is going to be a really great tournament with an exciting finish.

The course:

The contenders:

The pretender:

Watching the 1st group tee off, that rough looks nasty high. Better be in fairways this week.

Course looks to be in great playing conditions. I'm guessing fairways are irrigated, either that or they have gotten a lot of rain.

Still very early but it's remarkable how everybody seems to be hanging within a shot or two of par. Almost no double bogeys so far.

wow it's been 52 years (Tony Jacklin, 1969) since an Englishman has won an Open in England. a rare event. almost as rare as England's national team making the final of a major football tournament.

you're suggesting that Scotland and England are not two different countries? does this mapmaker have it all wrong? note the 'Country Boundary' in the map's key.

If this ends up coming down to Zalatoris with a 3 footer to win it's going to feel like the first time I saw the needle scene in Pulp Fiction.
