towelie - I can try to figure out that link.
But I am pretty sure I am doing something wrong. I simply cannot figure out what it is I'm supposed to do.
Where am I supposed to copy the script to? Am I supposed to make a folder somewhere? Is there some place in AHK that says "Copy the script here"?

Anything?

I've had this same issue with 2 different computers so I really don't think it's as much a technical issue (although could partly be due to that) as much as it is me having no idea where I should be putting anything.

i can't figure out the instructions on how to enable extensions.
I am running Vista btw.

I go to 'tools' like it says to do for XP but then don't see anything that says 'folder options'.
I tried 'internet options' instead but still can't find it. Just not sure where to look for this setting.

It doesn't really matter where you put it. Do you have Roland's functions? I see you need Roland's functions in order for the script to work, so you'd have to download that file and put it in the same folder as tiltblocker.

Also just to review with you, did you:

Copy/Paste the script into a blank notepad file, and then rename the extension to .ahk? Once you do that and download Roland's functions to the same folder all you should have to is double click the script file to get it goin.

Thanks for your help. I understand it's hard to assist someone who is as completely clueless as me.

Okay, I've been trying to do as you instructed here but don't really know what it means exactly.

I downloaded roland's functions also even though I don't know what that is. And I've been trying to download it again to put it in the same folder but I don't know how I'm supposed to do that.
I don't even know where the AHK script thing that I copied is exactly even though I've copied it and saved it in notepad about 5 times now. But I can't find it when I open AHK or anything.

I also do not know where to double-click the script file to get it going. Where am I supposed to find the script file to do that? I don't see it anywhere nor do I know where I'm supposed to look for it.

You need to make a folder, such as C:\AHK.

Then save all your scripts there, whether downloaded or copy/pasted into notepad. Thats where you run them from, and save them to. You need to pay attention where you save these .AHK files, when you do a "Save As..". I probably have 20+ scripts in my AHK folder.

I'll try to make it easy for you Bob. Download roland's functions and tilt blocker from the links below. When you download them you should be prompted to save them somewhere, make it a point to save them both in the same folder somewhere that you can find, your desktop might be ideal. Once they're downloaded all you should have to do is double click on tiltblocker.ahk to get it started.

fozzy -
Thanks.
Well, I think I have one folder with the tilt-blocker script in it but am not sure. I can't open it. Possibly because I don't have that roland's thing attached to it perhaps?
I keep clicking the roland's thing trying to figure out a way to put it in that folder (or whatever it is) but don't know how. I also think I've downloaded it about 10 times now but I'm just trying to find a way to do see it so that I can do something with it. Oh well.

I don't think I know how to make a folder such a C:\AHK but the folder I did make seems to be the correct dot-ahk thing on C:\Users\myname\Desktop

Anyway, when I try to click the functions_v217.ahk thing under 'downloads' after getting the roland's thing I don't know where it is or what I'm supposed to do.

towelie - I appreciate that and will try to figure it out.
But I would like to know what I'm supposed to do to make these AHK things work anyway because there are a couple other ones that I might be interested such as starsplanner or whatever.

I think some of this may be helpful for a lot of people.
I've read quite a few complaints in other forums of people like me who simply couldn't figure out how to make any AHK stuff work who gave up in frsutration.
I know I'm incredibly dumb at this. But I can get PT and PAHud and other programs working okay. I just can't figure out the instructions for this AHK stuff.

I have now downloaded the roland's thing approximately 15 times but don't see how to save it to somewhere else.

What internet browser are you using? Are you prompted to tell it where to save it or does it just automatically save w/o asking you?

I was using firefox.
I tried your links with explorer and I think that got me to what I was supposed to do.

So I have both of them in the new file-folder I created on my desktop but I still think I screwed something up. Still not working....or if it is I can't tell what/where it's supposed to be.

As far as 'where it should be' goes, it really doesn't matter where it is, so long as functions.ahk and tiltblocker.ahk are in the same folder and you can find it. If double clicking on tiltblocker.ahk doesn't start the script, i'm not sure what else to do. . If it still doesn't work really it means that ahk isn't installed correctly, but if you're using other ahk scripts than it must be installed correctly.

Is it okay for it to be one of the yellow looking file-folders on the desktop?

I open that and have two little H icons.
One if for functions_v3.ahk (maybe this is the wrong version) and the other is for tiltblocker.ahk

And they I clock on tiltblocker in there and I get an error message.

towelie - I don't think I even installed ahk on this computer in the first place to get the pokerpad script up and running okay but I could be wrong. pokerpad seems to work fine (or...at least the parts that I need to work are okay...some of it doesn't seem to work very well but I don't care about those aspects).

And I have never been able to figure out how to get any other ahk scripts except the non-overcards pokerpad to work properly which is extremely frustrating.

I'm also trying to put the 'functions' thing (roland's thing) into the tiltblocker or myfirstscript ahk but I think that ends up replacing it, not combining them.

I put them all back where they're supposed to be I think.

Ok I just read another thread that said it works with the earliest version of roland's functions, I gave you the latest version. Download the earliest version here to the same folder that you downloaded the other scripts to, and then delete v3 of roland's functions and try tiltblocker.ahk again.

lol... sounds like you're running the compiled version of pokerpad, which doesn't require ahk to run. You need to install ahk

I don't know what the compiled thing is but perhaps that's true.

I do have ahk installed though. That was the first thing I did when I started this whole thing. I thought that maybe I was installing ahk 'again' but I wasn't sure and wanted to be safe.

Anyway, will switch to the earlier version of the roland's thing and delete the newer version and see what happens.

OMG!!! Hallelujah.

It actually works.

Unfortunately it only lets me have one tiltblocker window thing at a time and I really need several of them. But I will still chalk this up as a victory.

Thanks a ton for your assistance with this. I owe you big time.

Unfortunately, I still don't know if I can successfully do this by copy/pasting the script into a folder like the supposedly 'easy' directions tell you to do. But at least I'm a little closer.

hi dave - welcome back to your thread. sorry to crazy-it-up for you.

At the poker tables I really don't care too much when I lose a $10 pot or a $1k pot or whatever.
With technical and computer stuff where I feel like the stupidest person on the planet within 10 minutes I do tend to turn into a ******ed tilt-chimpanzee who is ready to break things, rob banks, kill people, etc etc.

This is vital, everyone should do this. It is the first step in taking control of your Windows computer, imo.

Understanding file extensions are the most essential part of how Windows works, it is horrific that they are hidden from users by default.
