I've sent RunGood promo codes to those who emailed me yesterday. Hope everyone enjoys using the app.

If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear your feedback as we're always looking to improve the user experience.

Yes, you can add completed sessions to RunGood. You can also use this method to import a number of sessions at once:

1. Create a session in RunGood and export it. The session will be used as a template so be sure to fill in any detail fields you will need to import later.

2. Open the export CSV file in a spreadsheet application (such as Microsoft Excel), and copy the details from the sessions you wish to import into the appropriate columns. Make sure all details match the format used by the RunGood session.

3. Save the CSV file and email it as an attachment to yourself.

4. Open the email in the default Mail app. Tap and hold the attachment file, and choose "Open in RunGood" when the sharing options are shown.

This method will work for any sessions you'd like to import. Just be sure the details are in the correct format.

getting really sick and tired of this Poker Journal nonsense?

Can you maybe offer an incentive period or a deal to Poker Journal users? Half off or something?

Thanks.
We previously had the app on discount until a month ago. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't provide us with any options to give discounts to specific users, but send me an email (James at RunGoodApp dot com) and I'll hook you up with a promo code.

Thank you for the feedback. Many of these suggestions are great. Some of the features are coming, but a few we have decided not to include by design. I'll try to respond to them here this time, but am considering creating a separate thread for future suggestions.

Quote:
-In the session window, it lists your sessions, place, result, game, but you have to click on an actual session to see the duration of any particular session. It would be nice to see session lengths at a glace for all sessions.

-No toke button. Using the expenses field would require manually keeping track of tokes and entering them at the end of the session, or pressing 3 buttons to add a toke during a session. Most players don't consider tokes an expense, so it would be nice to have separate tokes and expenses to track.
These were considered but omitted for design reasons, mainly to keep the app simple and the interface uncluttered. We really want the app to remain clean and intuitive, and try to strike a balance between simplicity and functionality that we think is best for the majority of users.

For session durations, you can set cash game graphs to graph by hour and perhaps get a glance from there.

Quote:
-No standard deviation per hour and per session stats.
Standard deviation stats are coming along with several others in an update. We just released RunGood 1.5 but are already working on new features for the next update.

Quote:
-When you tap cash game, you are taken immediately to buyin amount. That's okay, but if you have the location default setting set to on and press the Location button from the live screen and select your card room, it doesn't fill in all the fields (game/stake etc). In order for location to work, you have to hit edit and select your card room from that menu.
We realize the potential inconvenience here, and our original consideration was that all "autocompleted" details should be visible (they appear in blue in the Edit screen). I agree that filling in all fields from the session timer screen is much quicker, and think we will end up making this change (perhaps adding an overlay message to provide feedback to the user that the location setup has been used).

Quote:
-When you are at the home screen of the app (or when you tap out of the app) while you are in a live session, there is no indication on the home screen (or the app icon) that a live session is still being recorded. Having a little red 1 on the app icon and the In Play icon in the home screen would ensure you know you closed a completed session.
Some people really hate that little red badge... I think we will skip this for the time being.

Quote:
-In stats, I think you need to cut to the chase first; sessions played, cumulative results, hours played, average hourly results, average results per session, standard deviation per session/hour with a gross and net toggle button at the top for all stats. I get all that is there (except for stdv), but those stats are what everyone wants to lay their eyes on first. Scroll down for more nitty stats. It is nice that you can select and deselect which stats to display, though.
I think expanding the summary stats at the top is a great suggestion.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Thank you. I'm glad that you like the app.

Regarding security, is it not easier to set a passcode for your device? We don't like the idea of users potentially forgetting their RunGood passcode and losing access to their data.

Speaking for some pokerplayers. Wifes and girlfriends like to look at pics and stuff on phone but i would like to keep her out of my poker stuff. You could set it as an optional feature so people would only turn it on if they want it.

+1

This feature, like the badge app icon that would show a live session in progress, would be a great option to have that can easily be turned on/off by users depending on their preference.

The original idea to give out promo codes was actually due to me misreading a post by Prodigy... But I followed through and have already given out a number of codes (much more than initially intended).

For now, please stop emailing me for codes. My inbox would appreciate it

I'd be happy to pay for the app, but the two most important things for myself that I listed in my post are the two things you don't want to change: tokes and session length.

Thanks for addressing my post in detail. I appreciate it.

Sorry about that. Please understand it's very difficult for us to accommodate all players. Hopefully we'll still be able to improve the app based on your feedback.

I understand it's not feasible to spend dozens of hours coding/testing based on what may possibly be a very small base of your users' needs (or 1 perspective user's needs )

I am curious what expenses people are inputting on the fly in a live session, food? It would seem changing the expenses button to a +/- toke button and having expenses for food, drink, gas etc. from the edit menu would be more practical since those expenses can be recorded at leisure. I think more people track tokes than input food on the fly, but IDK.

I also think that when you turn filters on but select nothing to filter and move back to the report screen, that filters shouldn't be indicated as on since nothing is being filtered. That could potentially be a slight inconvenience when selecting and deselecting a bunch of filters.

I like the app a lot and if/when I switch it will be to this one, but I disagree that displaying say, 9:07 would clutter that particular layout. I like to easily see at a glance how many sessions and hours I put in for the week. I don't think I'm alone there.

IMO, RunGood is overpriced for the functionality it currently offers.

Poker Journal is offering far more functionality for $5 less.

Well, I set a filter in Poker Journal and now the app will not open and the developer doesn't seem to give a ****, so I'd pay a lot or pay a subscription service for an app that is maintained. Every time there is a new ios update, I wait until PJ decides he wants to keep his customers happy and update the app before I upgrade the operating system. As a developer, he gets ios updates well before commercial release so he can update any apps he develops, but he doesn't seem to want to do that yet he won't take his app out of the store.

Right now, my PJ functionality is zero; I'm using the lite version and exporting and deleting every 8 sessions despite owning the ****ing app.

Both pricing point and lack of functionality make me rather wait for PJ update than migrate away from it.

And what do you suggest I do? I'm on ios7 and the app won't open. It's not clear once he updates the app for ios8 that it will rectify my situation, as it's a filter that caused the app to crash and never reopen. I play for a living, so it's getting a little tiresome to export/print screen (just in case)/delete every 8 sessions from the lite version.

Just providing my opinion of RunGood, not offering advice to PJ debacle.

If I were you, I'll probably log it using RG lite in iOS 8 and just wait for PJ update.

RG lite logs 10 sessions, so I wouldn't be really gaining anything using that over PJ lite (and PJ lite works in ios8). Again, I'm not sure the PJ update will fix the filter issue I have since the update will likely maintain the filter and I doubt he'll fix the filter issue since his primary concern is ios8 compatibility and to get it done and over with.

What is your opinion of RG? All you say is lack of functionality, yet you don't provide any details on what it lacks.

Players use expenses to track things like food, drink, taxi, and sometimes time rake or room expenses. I realize these aren't as dynamic as tokes, but tipping habits can differ quite a bit between players of different stakes and regions. For example, some (usually high stakes) players will tip at the end of the session. And in Macau, tokes generally aren't given because they go to the house, not the staff (pretty absurd, I know). Revamping the interface in favor of tokes could be useful for some players, but (at least marginally) hurt the user experience for others.

Your suggestion was the first serious one I've received for tokes since the app was released (I've had maybe one or two along the lines of "it would be nice, but not a major issue"), but I'm not dismissing it lightly (sorry if you got that impression). It's just hard for me to justify an interface redesign because of it at this point. Still, I've been toying with the idea of maybe a gesture-based shortcut (two-finger tap on the timer screen?) for quickly adding tokes since your initial post. I hate adding half-baked features just to "tick off a checklist" so I want to give some more thought on how this change would affect the app and all users before I implement it though.

The quickest way to enable/disable filters is by using the filters switch. No need to select/deselect manually. You can also save and load filter configurations.

The problem is that I have to consider when the maximum space for all fields are being used. In Poker Journal, the fields would just overlap, which I really disliked when I tried using it. The current layout in RunGood provides better readability. Displaying more info for each session would require increasing the height and fewer sessions at a glance.

Appreciate the feedback!

I actually think all apps in general are underpriced because of cheap/free apps like Angry Birds. Some apps suck you in by being free then charge you for features later. With RunGood, you pay once and there are no subscription fees or in-app purchases. All new features come in free updates.

Tracking apps are only useful to a very specific demographic, so it can even be difficult to break even, especially if you factor opportunity costs. From a purely financial standpoint, I shouldn't be spending too much time on improving RunGood, but I take pride in creating something that's both useful to myself and well-received by the community.

Quote:

RunGood also offers far more functionality than Poker Journal, depending on what you are looking at. Of course, different players have varying opinions on what they want in a tracking app.
