I just released Poker God for iPhone and Android. People seem to love it but damn it's hard getting the word out...

It’s a free heads up app and each game is a tournament where you play 3, 5 or 7 SNGs at the same time. Win the more SNGs to win the tournament. When played in real-time it’s really fast gameplay but you can play it turn-based as well and then you swipe through the tables to make several turns at once.

It’s not real money but it’s still damn fun when you get a good opponent or a friend Heads Up.

iTunes (iPhone/iPod)

Google Play

Feedback welcomed.

Updated with plenty of bug fixes.

It is getting great reviews on Google Play and also available on iTunes with cross platform play of course. People really like the combination of real-time and turn-based play over multiple tables.

There are mostly real money players playing so the games are generally of a very high standard. Check it out, I would love some feedback.

Just downloaded the iOS version. Very well made app. Love the animations and the overall UI/UX. I tried starting a game but no players joined. Seems like it would be fun though.

Did you use a cross platform tool to build the app? and what did you use for the game server? Just curious bc I'm an mobile/web app developer

Thanks! Sometimes it can take a while for someone to join specially during night time in US. Hoping to get more players soon. Despite how much people seem to love the game it is very hard to get the word out there.

I used Corona SDK for the clients and for server I used Tornado with MongoDB. I highly recommend both Corona and Tornado. First version of the server used node.js but I found it very hard to make nice readable code with node, that could be just me though.

I've used Appcelerator for standard cross platform mobile apps and have had a lot of success. One of the founders of Corona started a company called Lanica which is a 2d game engine (which is used with the Appcelerator platform). We used it to make a game for Denny's and had a terrible experience. The game ended up having to be rewritten natively.

Seems like Corona is a way better platform (and have been around way longer which helps too). We just built the first version of the main Denny's app using Appcelerator so we went with Lanica. Ugh painful thoughts!

I'm using Node.js with socket.io to build a game server for a fantasyish game. I've used Node a bunch on other projects and love it (standard API driven stuff for mobile apps). Definitely going to look into Tornado though. I've only dabbled in Python so far...

Anyways, don't mean to derail your thread. Just thought you had a really well made mobile app and was curious about the technologies.

Cheers!

I started using Corona just after that split that lead to Lanica. Sounds like they have a lot of catching up to do. It has its negative sides to not code natively but they are minor compared to the pros. I could have never made my game for iOS and Android otherwise. I think Lua is a really fun language too.

I don't know why I couldn't get into Node. Async coding is hard and not being javascript ninja made things go wildly out of control. I went as far as having everything working fine but then one day I had to add some feature opened the project and just went FFFFUUU and restarted in Python after weeks of coding.

I like the visuals and interface... haven't been able to connect with a friend on it via Facebook though to get it working. Any ideas?

Anyway to include what the blinds are for any given hand on the screen in a more visible way? Also, since for the turbos structure moves so quickly, would be helpful to have number of blinds in each stack per hand.

I'll have to look into that. If you use FB and a friend registers with FB you should get auto-added as friends. Are you using Android?

Yes I agree, I need to make it clearer. There is a little bit of information here about the blinds: http://pokergodgame.com/about/

Are you still supporting "Poker God"? (Or at least keeping the server operational?)

I haven't been able to connect for a couple of days
