I have had this in my head for some time now, this could be gold especially for heads-up players, but also for ring gamers.

The program should:
1) Time the distance in milliseconds between that the player can make a decision and when he actually makes the decision (with a precision of 0.001s)
2) Determine whether the player had a strong hand, a drawing hand or a weak hand (manual input possible if no showdown)
3) Store all the data in a database (separate preflops, flops, turns & rivers, as timing tells are different most of the time for each of these streets).

The program should now look for simularities in the historic data, this requires pretty advanced programming I think.

In a HUD should be displayed what chance in % there is that the player has a strong hand/weak hand/bluffing hand/drawing hand etc. for each action that he has taken. These calculations are made from historic timing tells/calculations.

Also each player should be given a % in the HUD for timing tell accuracy (which the program calculates from historic data). For instance: A player with timing tell accuracy 100% can be read 100% of the times for succesful timing tells, a player with 0% is unreadable (probably the smart kind of player that incorporates reverse timing tells all the time and stuff).

So here is what i want to know:
1) Could such a program actually seek out timing tells?
2) Can an advanced programmer create this?
3) Do other players like me feel the need for this too?

I don't think it would be a great program for online poker because every lag and delay would be a tell which could cost you money.

So perhaps the program could detect if the connection status is 100%, otherwise it will disable or something

I guess a program that shows two things would be good.

First: A little number for how many seconds it took him to act.
Second: A little number of how many tables this guy plays.

This prolly won't work well against multi-tablers as the speed they act is more likely to be dictated by the actions on their other tables. Even so, it wouldn't be hard to see if it had any potential and there are prolly two things that you could try:

1) Find out if there is any correlation between the timing of an action and the next action a player takes (ie: quick checks might correlate with folding).

2) Find out if there is any correlation between the timing of an action and the strength of the player's hand.

I doubt very much you'll get something all that useful though. as multi-tablers are just too prolific thesedays.

This is getting rediculous. People wanna do everything but use their own brain. Huds and ev calculaters. Anything that might give you the kind of skills an actual good poker player posseses as instincts. People are more focused on how to use computer programs to make them better than actually learning how to play poker. And guess whats gonna happen if youre ever in pressure situations in a major tournament. Youre gonna look to your brain for the right decision and you're gonna realize you never even learned how to play poker.
