I was able to dig through the cache files and see from where the files are loading. They come from the Bovada servers and then stored in the cache files. It is not as simple as just changing those files extension and marking read only. The only idea I have is that using your HOSTS file and a local webserver, you could possibly redirect the requests for those files to your local drive. However, there are more files to mod now and they have changed the layout of them all (for example the card faces now have what looks like two files PER SUIT). Also, they could also be doing some in-client validation on those files that you may not be able to spoof (kinda doubtful though since the images show up fine in a browser).

So, for now, this seems like way more work that I am interested in doing. I may have to eventually or if I get bored one day, but for now I am done.

If you could just figure out how to change the table backgrounds I would be willing to reimburse you for your time.

I think the update is to convert their client to a more native mobile architecture. The impact is - the days of local image files loaded on your pc and the ability to mod them are gone. (ie. good luck trying to mod Angry Birds).

I emailed them asking them to change the cards and tables, basically provide more options. They said they'd take it into consideration. So that basically means F off, but if we all contact them and ask for changes, who knows maybe they'll make some updates.

I emailed and asked for the same thing. I said there is no reason I should not be able to upload my own image to use as a background photo. If anyone comes up with a mod soon - PLEASE POST!!! We beg of you...

Its a good idea to ask for more options. At least a black table. I would hold off on asking them for this right now. They have bigger issues. When things start running better then if enough people ask nicely maybe they will give us more color options or something. I don't know how people play with the beep. It is so annoying. I used to change it to the chip or bet sound. I doubt anything will be done about sounds though. Good thing you can turn them off, but it makes it harder to play.

I had a problem using a touch screen to play and support did transfer me to tech and the problem was fixed the next day.

Stupid black check/ raise/ fold buttons over a black background. Definitely timed out plenty of hands while multi tabling because of this. Used to have nice bright turquoise buttons. Throw me a frikin bone here Bovada!!!

Anyone ever try creating a PokerTracker replayer theme after the standard Bovada table?

I tried but didn't finish it.

Here's a screenshot with testing deck (actually, even original Bovada cards can be used for PT replayer, because they have the same size):

There probably isnt so your realistic best bet is to just fix the mental game leak that causes emotional issue with a couple colours and graphics on a screen.

I found where the images load from in the cache files (I guess this is what cokeman was talking about)

Here's the chip file for example:

I tried just replacing that URL, but as I was expecting it didn't work. When I opened the client it edited the text file back. That's all i'm really capable of doing, maybe someone else can mess with it.

And I've only managed to find the chips and table bg, there are alot of files in cache>data8 to check. Alot of them are for the lobby and stuff (I also found a file with all of the banned chat words, which I didn't expect to see, made me lol).

Anyway I'm pretty doubtful anything is going to work unfortunately. But what do I know, someone may figure it out.

Yeah, that's them. You can't just replace those cache files though, they are reloaded several times by the client. Marking them read only so that they won't get overwritten is a problem too as the client will make a new folder and load new cache files there. Plus you would have to know how they encoded those images in that file.

About all I can think to do is to use something like Fiddler to spoof those urls and return your own images. The problem there is that the client does not go through the system proxy (in your Internet Options) that Fiddler uses. You can use something like Proxify to force EVERY app to go through the proxy and try and manage it that way. But then you may have problems with your other apps on your system.

Add to that the possibility that if Bovada detects that you are intercepting and spoofing the urls, they may take some kind of action. I'm not saying they will, but modding this way is a bit more that just marking some local resources read-only. Several of the scripts and code that run the client load this same way (hello laggy client). So, while you can't alter that code and see everyone's hole cards or anything, I wouldn't put it past the brain-trust at Bovada to not get that.

All that adds up to why I am not messing with it at this point. I'll keep an eye on future updates though in case they make it possible to do this another way.

is there any chip mods for limit poker? like to where the bets are in separate stacks? i play 30/60 and a $30 bet is 1 green and 1 red next to it, and a raise to $60 is 2 greens and 2 reds next to it. with poor resolution it's hard to tell the difference.
