Bot Detection Software for the Players Bot Detection Software for the Players

Has anyone attempted this? Sites claim they have detection methods, but they are probably pretty poor at most sites, if they even do have them. I'm not sure if it would be possible to detect them some way while at the tables. I was thinking something along the lines of a database addon that compares statistics across accounts. This wouldn't help detect uniquely configured bots, but it could help detect the majority of commercially purchased and distributed bots as well as bot rings using the same setup on multiple accounts.

Putting this ability in the hands of the players would allow the players to avoid the most bot filled tables and sites if the sites chose not to take action when presented with the evidence. I know I'd pay and I think it could be a popular piece of software.

Is there anything out there like this? If not, what are your thoughts on the possibility of bot detection software in the hands of the players? Could it be done?

Could probably be done by getting a hold of software like holdem indicator and other bot software/profiles and use that to engineer something.

possible with huge data-mining and analysis which can be automated. there is probably a solution to detect bot rings by just matching the similarities in stats but to find individual hybrids seems near impossible.

cool idea though, integrate with hem/pt4 would be extremely useful and easy to police games. besides stars (maybe), i dont think many sites have much going on besides relying heavily on players policing their games.

also ill add that bot rings are probably a dying art only really found at the lowest stakes online.

The most widely used bots that I see in the games I play most often, 25-100nl cash games, are very easy for me to identify with high confidence after 10k hands. For a higher confidence you could require more hands.

At this point in time the widely distributed bots with identical profiles are the biggest issue in most games, not the few that are uniquely configured. It's not easy to build a long-term profitable bot that can't be exploited. Everyone wants to use the profiles that win the most. Thankfully this makes it very easy to identify most of them.

I'm not sure how you define bot ring specifically, but there are large amounts of bots that have nearly identical stats that I've found up to the midstakes. I currently track nearly 50 bots at 25-100nl on the Chico network, but I've witnessed some playing higher. If you mean actual teams of connected people and possible card sharing then I'll have to take your word for it.
