Best A.I. Poker? Best A.I. Poker?

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread for this as this isn't technically about Internet poker but I wouldn't put this in the software section because I think that is for software that helps you play better, count cards, etc. If this is in the wrong section, sorry. I read the "Starting a Tread?" and looked around and did not find a modern post about this.

After the Ultimate Bet scandal and all the other poker scandels I will not play poker online for money ever again. I don't understand what-so-ever why anyone would. The problem about playing online or with an app against other people for free is that most of them don't actually play the game. Almost everyone calls preflop, and in general people just throw their money around and go all in nonstop. They don't actually play the game.

My dilemma is that I don't have any friends that are into playing poker and I want to play against people that know what they are doing. So I'm wondering if anyone here knows of any apps or video games where the A.I. play like knowledgeable, smart players. I was never able to find a video game where the A.I. played smart enough for my liking. That was a while ago, before apps. I have not tried any apps. I havent played poker for a while. Anyone know if there is any good A.I. poker out there? Is poker-genius.com any good? It sounds good on paper from what I read on their site. I haven't heard anything from people who have tried it.

I was reading the description of some poker apps and I saw that you have the option to invite friends. This got me thinking. I think doing this successfully could actually happen seeing how popular poker is. I could probably code something that allows people to play poker against each other for free, but I wouldn't allow people to play that call everything preflop and go all-in every hand. Don't get me wrong I would let beginners play and give them beginners guides and what not, but I would have to be a little strict (hopefully not mean ) so that the service didn't turn into the mess that free poker apps are. I could create a little community and a forum. I could do something like schedule tournaments and sit-n-gos at specific times and give points to the winner and maybe top finishes. Then a leaderboard could be kept of those points and the site could give out a monthly, yearly, etc championship to the guy with most points. It could be good fun. There are 2 major problems though. 1. I'm horrible at coding so I couldn't code this alone and would need a coder who was really, really good at coding and 2. I have like a billion hobbies and I'm being very strict with cutting them down to a great degree. Hobbies are fun and all but they distract you from self actualization. Because of this I don't know how much time I could put into coding the game. This game would be for free. I wouldn't do anything immoral but why should strangers trust me over other strangers? The championships would just be for fun. I get that most people would be turned off not playing for money but sadly what choice do you have with online poker with all the scandels?

A service like what I just mentioned would be my ideal solution, and I don't believe anything like that currently exists. If it does please let me know because that is what I would like to join. I would rather play against real people compared to A.I. any day. I imagine it is pretty difficult to read A.I. compared to a real person. I imagine there are a lot of people out there on the Internet that are in the same situation as me and are turned off with online money sites with all of the scandals. Another advantage to this is the amount of people that could play each other compared to your local game with friends.

Thanks for the help.

Playing poker without some amount of money involved is pointless and unrealistic, and is no fun after a short time.

You can play for cents on most sites, so, in effect, anyone can play for fun and as a pastime at no financial risk to speak of, but the games are obviously realistic as people are trying harder to win even a few cents rather than for useless and unimportant matchsticks.

That's a good idea there. I would play average to lower stacks but I'm too paranoid after the scandals. At the same time I could understand them not rigging it because there is always a fee you have to pay that goes to the site for each game you play, but that didn't stop them before.
