Warning: Dishonest Business Practices from Holdem Manager Company Warning: Dishonest Business Practices from Holdem Manager Company

04-15-2021 , 11:17 PM
Summary:

I’m writing this to expose unethical business practices that was used by the company that produces Hold-em Manager. The summary is these people were dishonest and I will not do business with them again. I expect them to do nothing for me as they have made it clear they don't care what they promised to me which lead me to pay for there product, I will get nothing. I was told by these people in an email I would get a product for free (Holdem manager 3) if I buy a product (holdem manager 2). I was NEVER given it by their own admission/words. I cannot trust someone who outright lies to me in an email, especially when you have to check in online to use their product. They may suddenly decide you’re not eligible for even though you already paid for it. They might chance the rules on you too, and like me you may never know it happened. The poker industry has had enough dishonest business practices over the past decades which that gives it a bad image. Save your cash for good honest companies. Do not support this company. Doing research Poker Tracker 4 or even DriveHUD is recommended above Holdem manager anyway and here’s the best part which I know is not true for hold-em manager. For Poker Tracker 4 “All of the licenses are for life and can be used on up to 3 different machines." Too quote pokerfortress, “It (holdem manager) costs slightly more than PokerTracker 4 with fewer features.” . Or Beastsofpoker, “PokerTracker 4 is the best poker software available” “Top option for grinders”

More Information on how HEM people are dishonest:

I sent them there email they sent me, here’s what it says that’s important.

“If you buy HM2 from this point forward you will receive a free upgrade to HM3 once it is eventually released. -Chris"

I was told that I received an email last year that I needed to upgrade by October. I never saw this email, maybe it was actually sent and it went to the spam/junk folder I don’t know. Here’s the excerpt I received from whom I assume is the same Chris,

“You never upgraded to HM3. You had to do that to access HM3. I am not able to re-enable the upgrade discount. “

What's funny is I have a receipt from them that says I purchased the holdem Manager 3 upgrade which I provided to them. When inquired, they then claimed this was only for the 'beta' (never mind they told me i would get holdem manager 3 for free). Except I have a version of the beta on my old computer and I am not able to use that either so clearly they are hell bent on me receiving nothing. Also they had just told me I never had accessed holdem manager 3 beta or otherwise in there previous message. So which is it? Best customer service ever!

They never gave me an answer how they fufilled this obligation that was promised to me just made excuses why I never got it. They only said I should have seen an email from them (maybe they sent I have no clue it was probably in the spam folder) or apparently been one of like 3 people to follow them on twitter or something so I could have seen some arbitrary tweet where I must ask for the upgrade before end of October.

Regardless to use their product, every time you have to login to verify you have a registered license. Given they change the rules on people this seems like a bad idea. They might just arbitrarily change the rules on people and essentially respond with “too bad.” I have even bought multiple products from them including their original Holdem manager over a decade ago.

I was actually strongly considering buying an additional product of theirs since I’m just familiar with their products and didn’t feel like learning a new one but I will not be doing this and after doing research it appears most people prefer other products anyways that are cheaper!

I gave them every opportunity to do the right thing in multiple emails & explanations so it has come to this, me trying to make sure they don’t do this to other people in the future. Hopefully others can avoid supporting a dishonest business. For me it’s not about the money I spent, it’s about exposing a company that is lying to and doing their customers wrong. Plus I have a very ‘avenger’ type personality when I’ve essentially been scammed.

Why you shouldn’t buy their product anyways:

Get PokerTracker 4 or DriveHUD, for most people (grinders or heavier casual players) they are better and CHEAPER recommended by beatingbetting.com , Pokerfortress.com , beastsofpoker.com . Or to quote blackrain website here’s his take on HUDs for 2021:

“So what is the best poker HUD software in 2021?

Well, for me it is still easily PokerTracker 4. In fact every single poker pro who I know uses PokerTracker as well. This is the most comprehensive and easy to use poker HUD out there today and it is compatible with most major poker sites and it is Mac friendly as well.”

“The best HUD for poker in 2020 is PokerTracker 4.” – pokerfortress.com

Why is Poker Tracker 4 better?

It works for MAC

It costs Less

They give you 3 licenses FOR LIFE. As explained Holdem Manager is dishonest about this to there customers.

You can swap the license over to a new computer when you’re changing.

Software is efficient, unlike HEM software is fairly large and can put a strain on some PCs and laptops – causing some crashes

Why is DriveHUD better?

Overall, we have found it hard to pick faults in DriveHUD.

Software prefers a drag and drop style to create HUDs. This makes them easy to create and edit

Why Pokerfortress doesn’t like HEM:

· it’s not as in-depth as what you’d get from PokerTracker 4”

· It costs slightly more than PokerTracker 4 with fewer features.”

Incompatibility with Mac.
Limited poker platforms.
Limited stats for more advanced players.
A heavy program that requires massive resources.
A bit more expensive than PokerTracker 4.
Why beastsofpoker doesn’t like HEM:

·
Limited poker sites

· Somewhat expensive

· Heavy software that needs massive resources to run

· Incompatible with Mac
