We can and we do have such threads - too many to find links to all of them already - TheProdigy/Schwalle posted the best one, a fairly comprehensive review of both products a few weeks back - but it sisn't stop people making new threads asking "what is best?" - which are of little use to anyone bar the OP whom cannot be bothered to search.

Also, at this point in time it is impossible to suggest what is the better product - Holdem Manager is the only one to have commercially "released" - but is still getting major improvements / added features at a similar rate to pre-relese beta. PokerTracker 3 is Far from finished, their philosophy is to get the core stable then pile on features thick and fast - so we have yet to see a great deal of what it may offer - and then there is the as yet unseen (but potentially incredible) PokerEV, and NotesNL too in active development...

For anyone wanting to know "which is best" - they really should try the free beta / demo versions themselves, or read the corresponding huge threads.

There is absolutely no way we want discussion of these products restricted / censored, just that creating yet another new thread is probably the worst way to do so, and can easily descend in to flames.

I can double-click something 10 times and nothing happens (occasionally it works after many tries). As soon as I switch to my Dell mousepad, the clicking works again. It's as though my mouse doesn't like the surface it is on and won't function properly. It's harder to move the mouse across the pad than it is using my free Dell mousepad, but that doesn't seem to be the main issue. This is really weird. I'll try to research and see if anyone else has this type of problem.
So, earlier, I tested it, determined it didn't work, did a little research, found out that others had problems too, decided it was pretty clear there was nothing I could do and gave up.

Tonight, my mind wandered back to the new mousepad and I just couldn't understand why a laser mouse wouldn't work on a black aluminum surface. I also didn't understand why some people had trouble with Microsoft laser mice but not other laser mice. I don't know much about the laser technology in mice, but it just didn't make sense to me that they wouldn't work on certain surfaces. I figured the black shouldn't be a problem since surely people have used black surfaces with laser mice before and if it were a problem it would be a fairly well-known issue (and why would black be a problem for a laser?). So I figured it had to be the metal. I also kept thinking about the fact that I couldn't even click the mouse while on the mouse pad. If it were a problem with the laser technology on the mouse, I should still be able to click. So I tried something. I elevated the wireless receiver for the mouse. It now works perfectly. I guess I'm an idiot for not trying this earlier. I didn't give it much thought, just quickly gave up and started playing on my old mouse pad. When the receiver is right next to the mouse pad (inches away) but on the same level, the mouse doesn't work at all. Elevate the receiver, and it works perfectly.

For everyone asking about PT3 vs. HM - here's my professional review:

I nuked my PSQL 8.3 install and am too lazy to try and remedy so I got HM about 3 days ago.

It is great. It imports hands, shows stats and has a hud! Oh yeah and it is black.

edit: and today's my birthday. I got a nice shirt but I am too fat so I gotta take it back to the store

Anyone know if it's possible to do multiple screen captures without the newest one overwriting the previous one? I'd like to be able to do a number of screen grabs during a session and then be able to dump them one by one into my favorite image editing program (mspaint ftw).

I don't think so. I use SnagIt 8, and it wont do it either. I have to screen grab, which will bring up an annotation/save as dialog, then save it quickly - so I can get another screen grab. Then I can go back later and edit, size, crop, annotate, etc all of my earlier grabs/saves..

I use Paint Shop Pro 9 (a bit old now) - it can do this very well.

Sure. I would imagine GetPaint.net would do what you are doing dave, as would Photoshop. I obviously dont want PShop running just to do screen grabs most of the time, but that would definitely work.

You can create multiple, new, blank files. Then screen grab, alt+tab to GetPaint, and paste into a blank file, then do it repeatedly til you have all the screens. Then edit/save all of them later.

I think being able to Copy multiple images/copies to the MS Clipboard, and consecutively Paste them out, 1 after the other, isn't possible, afaik.

This is not what I mean. in PSP9, you select "multiple captures", it minimizes - then every time you hit "F10" or whatever you choose, it invisibly captures a new image. When you are done, click it's taskbar icon and it pops stops capturing, with all your screen shots already in new images, ready to be saved - no preperation of blank files / alt-tab / paste required Very handy for making step-by-step tutorial or whatever.

EDIT: I think there's an AHK around that could be modified to do many sequential captures also, or at least I think I know how to make one...

can you still datamined full tilt tables by just opening them? I had a bunch of tables open, it was generating a bunch of .tmp files. When I click force import nothing happens it says no new hands and when I closed the client the files disappeared

Sounds like you have your import folder set to your \username\ folder - so it can only read the played hands. The Temp/Observed files are wrote to the main HH folder, not your username folder.

No, I'm set to import from \fulltilt\handhistory
