With all the new trackers coming to market in the next couple of months, 3 months ago, I decided to put my poker playing aside for a while and build a new HUD that will work on all up-and-coming trackers. In doing so, I hoped to expand on the capabilities of the Huds currently available. The result is PokerObserver Hud.

Currently, PokerObserver Hud only works on Holdem Manager but support will be provided for both its primary competitors, PokerEV and PokerTracker 3. Support for PokerTracker 2 is also a possibility.

Primary Features
Cross-Tracker Support (PokerEV, Holdem Manager, PokerTracker 3)
Individually Movable Stats
Fully implemented and customizable Notetaking system.
Custom Stat Builder
Fast, Flexible and Highly Customizable

Game plan:
This week: Private beta testing to a few lucky souls (let me know if your interested).
First week of February: Public beta testing will begin
End of February: Full release of PokerObserver 1.0

With that said, let me mention a few of its features.

Flexible and Customizable
As stated, PokerObserver Hud will work with any of the aforementioned trackers. All stats displayed on the Hud overlay will be retrieved from the applicable tracker. In addition, PokerObserver will support all poker sites that allow Huds and that are otherwise capable quickly retrieving hand histories. All stats and other objects displayed by PokerObserver Hud can be dragged directly on the table on which you are playing. Stat positions can be saved quickly. In addition, the Table Average box, shown below, can also be moved and saved.

Basic screenshot of what the Hud looks like at Full Tilt.

Notes

One of the more unique features of PokerObserver is the ability to add notes directly on the table while you play. Attached to each player's seat is a small button to indicates whether a note exists for a player (green means there is a note). Adjust the note settings to force the Hud to always display player notes, to hide note boxes for players on whom you have no notes, or to disable the note functionality completely.

Powerful

The expandable/collapsible PokerObserver Cockpit, which is attached to each open poker table, opens the door to full and complete customization while you play. Modify the look and feel of your Hud display, change fonts and colors, add and modify range colors, add and modify combo stats, change filters, adjust Note functionality and view prior hand histories all with the Cockpit. The Cockpit opens and closes using the Quick Action Panel.

Here's a more close-up view of the Cockpit.

Right now, I am looking for private beta testers to try this out. Initial testing will take place only on Full Tilt. PM me if your interested.

This has been a huge labor of love for me and I hope the community here will find this program useful. I'm excited to share it with everyone.

OK, your old thread requests locking, so I'll re-post:

Will this be Free/Open? without payment/Secret? Payware/Secret?

I've been experimenting with similar the last few days... (obv. nowhere near as polished as this looks yet).

Interested.

Not sure I understand all of your categories there, Dave. But at this point, to be honest, I haven't exactly decided what to do. There is a possibility that I will make this free and open or just free. I also may have a free "version". I am going to wait and see how the beta testing goes and then determine my plan. If I charge, it will be for a reasonable amount.

No offense taken Jack and its a good question.

There are a number of features that are not currently available in the HM Hud, or in any other Hud for that matter (that I'm aware of), such as integrated notes, individually draggable stats, immediately access to stat property changes, advanced hand history functionality. There are other things too, but since I'm just starting pre-beta, I want to keep a few things under wraps. These are specific things but in reality a lot of what I have tried to do is make the end user experience better -- in a lot a subtle ways.

It will have to be up to the individual user to decide which Hud he or she prefers but the good thing about PokerObserver is that you don't need to decide which tracker you'll ultimately buy because mine will support all of them (the competive ones at least).

Basically, I mean will it be Free / Open source or not. if it is free/closed or payware/closed isn't really a distinction I am bothered with.

If it is Free/Open, there is little point in creating an(other) Free/Open HUD.

As you say, "This has been a huge labor of love" - and it looks impressive. Mine is a quick and dirty AHK method to get stats from postgres databases But these days I design things to be as extensible as I can...

To give you some information:

No one HUD has all this rolled in to one package to my knowledge, however:

such as integrated notes
PT3[quote]individually draggable stats[quote]mine (although only a hard max of 9)
Quote:
immediately access to stat property changes
Not sure what this means -, probably mine

advanced hand history functionality
HalvSame's AHK BigPotGrabber.

Pretty much answers my questions - will not be Free / Open.

BTW, Please don't think I am bashing your product here - it looks *VERY* impressive.

Fully agreed. backend independent ftw. will this be able to mix stats from all 3(4?) trackers should we have access to them all?

Dave,

I think your assumption is likely correct. I would not stop working on whatever you're working on. While there is a possibility of releasing this open-source in the future, it is not in my immediate plans.

I'm interested in the advanced hand history part. Will it be possible to somehow "tag" or "bookmark" a certain HH to have it easily accessible in the HUD? Sometimes opponents do something so incredible that no note really does it justice and having the HH ready when playing that player again would be really usefull.

This is a really good idea. I have implemented something similar, but not quite like this. It shouldn't be too difficult to do this once I have the primary HH functionality completed the way I want it. One thing I'd be curious about is: how would you expect to recognize such hand histories? In other words, how would you envision the HUD notifying you that a player has a unique HH that should be reviewed? I am definitely open to ideas, especially ones that are consistent with my overall design.

The only thing I guess I can say is: trust me. I've been around here for a very long time and a few posters here might vouch for me, although I don't know many personally. Relatedly, at this point, in case anyone is curious, I don't have current plans on having the application connect to the internet at all for registration purposes.

I guess have a similar (but different obviously) icon to the notes one, that you can click and get up a list of HH's or something?

If you have spent considerable time building this HUD, why are you giving it away. Is your time not worth more than nothing?

i am interested in being a beta tester when you start on pokerstars.

does yours still have the HM functionality of further breakdowns by position?
if so, do you have fold to 3bet by position like the old realtime hud had?

This HUD looks great. The notebox is a fantastic feature.
What is about supporting PT2-Omaha, especially for Everest, because there is afaik no HUD available atm?
