Free brainwave generator? Free brainwave generator?

I'm confused. How are you supposed to use this stuff. All the sites tell you all about your brain waves and how the software works, but not how to use it.

Am I supposed to lay down and mediate with one of the "alert" programs?

Can I listen to a "relaxing" one while I jog?

Can someone who is getting results describe your "session" or point me to a web page with suggestions?

Thanks!

I only have experience with the Holosync ones (you can find the link in one of my previous posts) but for that, the only cd that you can/should listen to while doing something else is the one that increases focus and concentration. This should be used while reading/studying etc.

For the others, you're supposed to sit in a dark, quiet room with your eyes closed and listen to them through headphones. Headphones are very important since the whole point is that different frequencies are sent in through each ear, forcing the brain to sort them out and thereby strengthening and 'training' your brain (I'm probably butchering this explanation as I only have a basic understanding of it myself).

For the first 14 days you're supposed to listen to the first track on the cd which lasts half an hour. After that, you add the second track for a total session of one hour. The various other cds can be listened to as much as you like, but the 'main' meditation one is only to be used once a day, although eventually you can play the second track twice in a row.

Once your brain is getting 'stronger', you can buy deeper levels with deeper frequencies that will increase the strain put on your brain and make it 'stronger'. They liken it to how you train other muscles by starting with a low resistance and increasing it as you get used to it.

As for results, I'm actually not sure. I've been using Holosync for about 3 months, although I've been slacking a bit the last month or so, not using it every day. It does take an hour so I don't always have the time to spare. The 'trance' the meditation brings you to is quite interesting though and it definitly is very relaxing so I'm figuring it's worth keeping up if only for that effect.

It's not going to give any sudden and revolutionary effects though (at least it hasn't for me) apart from the actual meditation which is a very comfortable and stress-relieving experience.

Edit: The actual sounds you hear when listening to the tracks are rainfall and some gongs. For the second, and deeper, track there's only rainfall and no gongs. The binaural beats are embedded below and usually can't be heard. On some of the cds I do hear a deep rumbling sound though and I guess this is the binaural beats.

I was under the impression the binaural beats could be mixed with whatever background sounds you wanted to, within obvious limits - e.g. mixing the "relax" beats with 220bpm hardcore techno may not work too well (unless that normally relaxes you )

Kitty, you mention training - are you knowledgeable on audio frequencies / waveforms etc?

Wouldn't it be easier to download pre-made recordings? These things look really interesting either way.
