My friend and I are looking for an experienced webdesigner who could add an interactive member profile page to our existing site.

what kind of website are you trying to build?

why not use one of the multiple bulletin board scripts available for ree?

Well i have a couple of forums I've played around with. But i need more than that..... this is what i have tried out www.hecticparty.com/forum So from there, I need to make things alittle more advanced and thats beyond my little bit of web design knowledge.

After hearing what Sandviper is looking for, it's more than I have time to take on at the moment. I thought he might want the equivalent of a forum member profile page, without actually running a forum, which would be pretty simple. However he is running a forum, and wants some significant functionality added to member profiles with some heavy forum integration.

I just wanted to let any other interested parties know that the job is still up for grabs.

Yes, exactly. Laymen often confuse the terms.

He needs a developer (PHP, assuming he intends this to be a phpBB mod) with web design experience, not just an HTML designer. I'm a developer with a lot of phpBB modding experience, but I can't schedule for the amount of work he needs done. Plus I'm almost certainly out of his price range.

ah okay, so i need a developer.

the current phpBB i have isn't mandatory, if there is an easier way to do it, i would have no problem scrapping that and going with something else

Would it be easier to clone an existing site and then modifity it from there? There was a site that i was looking at today that would be a good foundation for what i want.

You might "clone" another site's design, but you can't get their backend code unless they give/sell it to you, or they're using a canned/open-source package. The HTML that hits the browser is only a small fraction of the code involved, most of which resides on the server as PHP, Java, or some other language.

So no, it's not necessarily easier, although having a working model to look at would probably speed development a bit.

And what's the page you would like to clone?
And do you have some more information regarding desired functionality? "interactive member profile page" can mean a lot...

yeah, but i would like to pay using pstars

but i didn't get alot of responses on here... so i've been looking at other sources and india seems to have the best prices, i'll agree with you there
