I think Dilz was working on some, but hasnt finished them. I started a set the other day, when showing Dilz how to make em. Let me try and finsih it quick.

I gave these a quick test. They are a bit crude, but they work. Hopefully those will help til Dilz makes some others.

AP-CardBacks-Yeloow.zip

OP,

Sweet bgs bro. I have a question. You know on the new table mode, one thing I really think looks out of place is when players don't have avatars the big goofy Absolute Poker logo is there. I think it'd look wayy smoother with just the black box with their name, and the regular picture boxes for those with avatars uploaded. Any fix here?

Here u go. A black square to replace the AP logo, and one with a 50% opaque black shade.

pk.zip

Which ever you decide to use needs to be pasted into:

C:\Program Files\Absolute Poker\data\gameimage\pk

then it needs to be renamed to the proper filename:

new_bt_sit_effect_default.BMP

Yeah I still haven't gotten to the card backs yet. I keep toying around with avatar boxes.

I might actually get some more card backs out tonight or tomorrow.

A simple avatar mod:

I didn't like the Empty Seat markers on the top down view so I blacked out that image as well. I figured I'm not the only one who doesn't like them.

To do this go into data\gameimage\pk and open empty_marker.bmp in ms paint. Clear the image and fill it in all black and it will be gone next time you load the program.

Here's a .zip package to black out the annoying AP jackpot ticker:

Place the files in data\gameimage\pk

Dilz, i replaced the bg6.dat bg8.dat and bg9.dat and all seems to be working well...just curious about whether we ALSO need to replace the .dat files that are titled:
- bg8_one.dat
- bg9_one.dat
- bg9_pokerfacebook.dat

don't even really know what these are...just wondering whether they need to be replaced too...

all the files on the megaupload.com site I can't download...i get "page not found" errors...

First, yeah you will want to replace those other bg files if you want the modded background for HU and stud tables.

I don't know what the problem is with the links. Are you saying the links in this thread don't work? Or in the old thread? I guess I'll test them and find out soon enough.

teddy I'm assuming you tried to redownload from the links in the old thread. I've removed those because they're pretty much useless now. I don't have a single .zip package with everything included yet. You can just download the mods one at a time in this thread. I will probably make a package mod eventually, but I'm still working on card backs at the moment.

Edit: I don't know what the pokerfacebook file is. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm new to AP software, could someone please provide me a simple way to add a bunch of custom BG's for the new tables without deleting the default ones? I just want a big collection to use as I see fit, would I just create a new folder in the skins category or something?

Also, i tried to rename those first few table skins as top.dat, didnt work, still were jpegs even named top.dat and the client wouldnt open so i put the original back.

Well, the way to change backgrounds involves renaming the custom jpegs to .dat files and overwriting the originals.

Just make a copy of your data folder as backup and then you can overwrite the stock backgrounds however often you want. Save the backgrounds in this thread into a folder and switch them in and out. Racetrack tables are the bg*.dat files and the top down view table is top.dat.

The quarter view files are qt*.dat files.

Edit: Just read your edit. I think you must have made a misstep somewhere. Save the file to your desktop as a .jpg, then rename it to top.dat and paste it into the data folder. I just did it myself and it worked.

Maybe by default our systems handle images differently. Okay, I go to page one of this thread, I click save as on the table image, I enter top.dat and save. Now it's on my desktop, I drag it into the data folder but it's still read as a jpeg even if the file name is top.dat, for some reason the extension isnt converting, even if I delete the original top.dat this will turn the entire AP client black and prevent from opening. It never asks me to overwrite since the extension is still a Jpeg.

Is anyone else finding this?

Well I'm glad we're hashing this out in case others have trouble.

Are you saving the file as a .dat when you first download it from this thread? Because you don't want to do that. Save it to your desktop as a jpeg. Then rename it.

If you've done that and it hasn't helped, maybe you need to change the Windows settings to show all file extensions. I don't know how it works in the default windows settings with respect to changing file extensions by renaming.

The setting would be found by opening My Computer, clicking on the Tools menu and opening Folder Options.

There's a View tab that contains an option to Hide extensions for known file types. If it's checked, uncheck it.

Dilz,

Thanks! That worked, I just had file extensions hidden for some reason.

No problem. I think that the Windows default setting is to hide most extensions, which is pretty dumb.

I'm trying the megaupload links in THIS thread, and it successfully takes me to the download page, where i wait 45 seconds for the free download link to become active, but after i click on it, it takes me to a generic "problem loading page" error page.
Any ideas?
(This is the case for ALL the megaupload links in this thread)

This is pretty weird. Other people have downloaded some of these files in the time since you first posted about having trouble. I tested them after you posted and they worked for me.

I can PM them to you if you PM me an email address. If others report problems I'll rehost them I guess.

I guess you might try a different web browser? Maybe some security settings are messing you up?

hmmm...managed to grab one of the megaupload files after about 10 attempts...but 90% of the time, i'm getting the "Problem Loading Page" browser error window. gonna try IE instead of FF now.

Nope - no dice: IE giving me the "Page Cannot be Displayed" error page.

Okay, I think I'll rehost them on Mediafire. Here's a set of yellow bet buttons. Thanks for the help Foz.

All the mods absolutely awesome so far; a few misc Qs if you dont mind:

1) are there usable card-back mods anywhere in this thread? In a post above, there's a yellow card back mod, but a message next to it saying "DON'T USE THIS JPG FILE"...so i wasn't really sure whether that meant that we weren't to use that mod file or what...

2) are there any mods in this thread (or perhaps an option in the AP software) that will let me NOT display people's avatars? I'd just like EVERYONE to have black rectangles...without any custom avatars at my tables (makes things less annoying to look at when i've got lots of PAHUD stats displayed -- i don't need somebody with an avatar of their car making my PAHUD stats harder to see)

lol what timing. I'm posting these card backs and I come across your post.

As to your question about blocking all avatars, no one has figured out a way to do it. I don't think it's possible.

These cards are bigger than stock, which should go a long way toward easier playability when multitabling. I did blue first, but I'll have several colors very shortly.
