Home game (social, no rake), 1/2 blinds, 100 buyin, half NLHE/PLO8...people are fine at HE, but clueless in Omaha...don't understand freeroll, dangers of bottom set, value of high when low is out etc...they'll play any 4 cards because, well, any four cards can win...even four bet pots preflop will get called with hands like 46JQ rainbow!

So, I'm dealt AAxx in BB...limps around to me, I limp to. Sometimes I raise, but these were bad aces...no suits, no wheel cards.

Flop: A2Q, two hearts.

I bet $10 and get 5 callers. At this point, I'm pretty sure no one has a 34 or a lower set...table fairly easy to read.

Turn: 7, offsuit.

I still have nut high, but hate being freerolled for low and betting high once low is out. However, checking seems like a bad option here too! I don't think anyone is particularly strong, so I bet $70 which should clear the field.

UTG (manaic/donkey) insta calls, as does a crafty but very LAG player. I figure one has hearts, the other don't know.

River: offsuit K. Only J 10 beats me now. Crafty player checks (only has $38), and it's to me. I have about $400, UTG has about $175. I bet $38, which in hindsight makes no sense (I was trying to appear very strong)...UTG mulls for about 30 seconds and shoves all in. Craft calls.

$136 to me...call or fold?

What is your read on this player? Does he bets quickly when he bluffs and think long when He is strong or vice versa?
Maybe he thinks that long till he realizes he could raise you out of the hand with a low hand with a weak high or maybe he has the nuts and thinks that long to feign weakness and get your call.
Against this crazy maniac I would probably make a crying call there.

It looks like u are calling $136 to win about 197(1/2 of $394). It's kinda gross now but I would still pay. Your side cards could matter. If u had a J or T call 100% but otherwise kinda sick spot but pay the man.

In the future shove river yourself. You get called by worse often enough and JT is gonna stack you anyway.

After a while I called...one issue is player is so bad that he'll misread his hand and think he has a straight or flush when he doesn't. Also, the biggest pot I've won in this weekly game (about 7 years now) of over $900 was when I had Aces full on a board with a flush and wheel. Two people called with a flush and bad full house...amazingly no one had a low! So scoop was definitely a possibility.

Agree with the River shove...that way I can maybe get a crappy low to fold.

Of course he had the J-10...along with a 3-5 for second nut low. Other player had nut flush draw, two pair and crappy low.

Same player spewed away nearly 1000 making similar bad calls or bets...unfortunately I was ice cold after this hand for rest of night (still won but was totally card dead).

Even if you haven't got the best hand, it may be worth paying off just because it will convince him to keep playing bad

' I'm pretty sure no one has a 34 or a lower set' Do u have super powers?

bet 110ish OTR/gii.

You have 2nd nut hi and hopefully donkey either calls with a hi hand(bar 10j) or folds some **** low. Craft is gonna call pretty wide with only $38 left and its just hoping he also has hi.
By betting so small OTR all you are achieving is giving donkey a good price for a random low. Ok there will be some hi only hands that he may only call small bets but I reckon more + betting river bigger.

I get zero benefit from posting strat on here but I remember from stars. A Brazilan home game huh On the beach with a bunch of hotties running around....

Play weekly with the same group of 10 guys for years and many hands may as well be played face up! Particularly the bad players who are exceptionally transparent.

Agree with river bet sizing...I think my sixth sense was telling me that the donkey hit his gutshot...couldn't decide what to do. Didn't like any of my options!

I was virtually certain that the donkey "thought" he made the nuts on the river...unfortuantely, given the size of the pot and more importantly, the fact that people constantly misread their hands in our game, I felt compelled to call.
