I don't feel like reading all that. But I will say debating about the nature of a certain game in the context of the people who play it is part of what this forum is about. If certain people happen to be offended, then they should well... I'm too lazy to explain, so just watch
this .
To answer 1016, you may be right that in some regard than at average player can profit in PLO8 just by sitting on hands or what not. But in my experience culminating in just playing O8, I was profitable in Limit/NL holdem, PL omaha, cash, tournaments and sngos. I settled on O8 strictly because the bankroll, variance, competition, and profitability could not be matched by any other game. That is, I was successful at 1/2 to 3/6 NL holdem, omaha, and finally O8 over the past 6-7 years. But nothing matched the bb/100 of O8. That is because, in my opinion, it is not a solved game, and is much more complex than you may make it out to be.
The short answer to the rest, is that no one could see this coming. Personally, I was never in it for the long run, as I planned to be at grad school. Perfecting another game would have cut into my O8 hours, and thus would not have been profitable for me. I'm sure many holdem/omaha regs are in the same boat.
Or, in summary, bring on the hate. That's the advantage of being in a country (and I guess a forum) that allows free speech. For example, some people were apparently offended by Ai Weiwei. Let's not turn this into a place where you have to take down christmas trees cause the kwanzaa celebrators were offended, or where kids can't play tag anymore cause being it is a bad thing, or where every kid in little league gets the same size trophy.
