I don't care what "book deal" you have or how good you are at this, if you think running hands through a simulator is "stupid", you're an idiot. Just shows how much of a lack of information is out there, that this guy is landing a book deal on Omaha 8 and thinks forum analysis and simulations are a "joke".

Whether Buzz was dead wrong or taught me something, he always contributed to the discussion and made us all question the way we played, and contributed to the life of the forum. And that's what it's all about. That's how I learned to play. Practice, forum analysis, practice, simulator, discussion. Nothing wrong with asking questions, as long as you're willing to objectively review the replies given. It is truly a great loss for Buzz to have passed.

O8 isn't dead btw, come play with us in Denver.

Can I name personal names in here? A cocky reg from the Denver games. Can't stand him. Really good, and he makes sure we all know about it. Bro, we get it.

Red Chip Poker deal, look for a $50 book coming out shortly from him I guess. Will also be their lead instructor.

Let's get some discussions going again, if only for a little while. I play 2/5 o8 probably 40 hours a month live but I haven't visited the forum in some time. I'm happy to share my knowledge as well as learn from those who know more than me. I don't think I ever leave here wishing i'd spent less time perusing. Not sure why the Buzz thing is affecting me so much.

I noticed hostility in here way back when. Let's put that aside. All are welcome. Yeah? Just for a while. Any question, any hand. Just for a while. No sarcasm or belligerent remarks, let's help people for a month. No patronizing.

Obv. forum discussion is critical to becoming a good player but in all honesty, trying to put aside bias, if the guy is good, do you think the book would be beneficial to new players to the game?

yeah, the guy does sound like an a**hole though (not sure what the language rules are in here lol)

As a new player I have received plenty of good advice on my adventures in fixed limit. Any interesting hand gets lots of good analysis. You guys are opinionated and intransigent, which is what is good when I want advice, it is up to me to understand and choose to incorporate into my game.

But seriously, I could start an "Official Heads Up Fixed Limit" thread and that would be a non starter because some things belong on the table and not the forum.

2/5, Friday and Saturday only. Pretty slim pickings. But hey we play it and it runs every week.

50$ on a book? lol

08 mtt's are not dead, on stars gtd's are sometimes even tripled with the amount of re-entry's. (however cash & sng's..)
Buzz was one of the nicest, he put in so much effort in his replies(for free!) I always looked forward to his response as it was one of the better replies in every thread.

The thing is right now, there is a skype group & a discord group and hand discussions are going in there.

Sometimes i wish i was an american so i could play those games. But then i remember you have poop sites for online, and have to pay up to x% tax on gambling...

No idea who you are talking about, but simulations of O8 hands is way way overrated. The ability to realize your equity is first and foremost. If you're not going to call down with 23 or A4 lows the simulation is meaningless.

This is a valid point.

However, in short handed play, and at higher stakes where you are almost always heads up in a pot, fading some boards to realize equity seems to be the skill component. For instance, A4 is usually going to draw to second low since a lot of boards contain a 2 or a 3 which may have wrecked the hand that is firing 2 barrels at you.

And "calling down" against a skilled opponent is usually just bad poker, barring a very few scenarios.
