This will be a monthly thread for friendly chatting among the regulars of this forum. Maybe tell us a little of what's going on with you.

I'll start this and we'll see how it goes.

One of the previous regulars in our long running friendly weekly dealer’s choice game, has moved to Seattle Washington. That leaves us with just five regulars.

I took one of my grandsons to the La Brea tar pits in early July. It had probably been thirty years since my last visit. Interesting place.

Then the next week I had another mild heart attack. I felt no pain, just shortness of breath... I thought I simply needed a higher dose of lasix (a diuretic)… and I was right about that… but a blood test also revealed a chemical released when you have a heart attack.

Anyhow I’m fine now.

I've been getting third in every Bovada Hi Lo Tournament and then losing stacks @ 1/2 and 2/4 plo8 vs people who play a lot better than me

Thought I'd test out playing Mixed Cash Games following SCOOP bink. Games seem quite good so far, surprising to me that actually the NLHE and PLO rounds are what people play the worst!

Massive gulf though, both in terms of stakes and average skill level between $4/$8 and $10/$20 (there's no $5/10 or $8/$16). Actually been playing the likes of Isildur and LrzLzk at $10/$20 while they wait for nosebleed games to start up which has been kinda fun.

FLO8 and PLO8 are such different games with different followings. IMO FLO8 better belongs in MIX / Limit forum.

I agree that FLO8 and PLO8 play substantially differently.

But tournament and cash games also play substantially differently.
And full table games play substantially differently from six handed games.
And heads-up plays substantially differently from six max or full table.
And high stakes plays substantially differently from mid stakes or mini stakes.
And on-line plays substantially differently from brick and mortar casino.
And private games play substantially differently from brick and mortar casino.

Yet in each of the types of Omaha-8 mentioned above, you use two cards from a personal hand plus three board cards to make a five card hand. Also all these ways of playing Omaha-8 are high/low split games with an 8 qualifier.

Roughly 30% of the threads of the last month are fixed-limit threads, and they're all labeled with a . I suggest you don't read them if you're not interested in them.

But OK, it has been a while since we last voted on preferences. If you'd like to write another poll about having a separate forum for pot-limit Omaha-8, you're welcome to do that. Or if you want me to write the poll, I'll do that for you. I guess the question is:

"Should pot-limit Omaha-8 have a separate forum? (Separate from fixed-limit Omaha-8)."

If you want the poll to be by secret ballot, then write the poll yourself. (If I write the poll question, I'll choose to have the way everyone voted visible).

If you want me to conduct a poll or if the question should be different, please advise me (in this thread).

I think FLO8 would better fit with either the MIX games or with other LIMIT games. I made one sentence to that effect.

I don't appreciate the patronizing tone -- particularly since you're a mod.

He wasn't offended, it's just we've been through this before and ended up having a vote. The way it is now just works better for most people it seems like. It's too small to split up, but too big to put in the Draw and Other Poker sub-forum or anywhere else really.

I was not offended. And being very thorough in a low-content thread sounds silly.

But if you really want to have a forum exclusively for pot-limit folks, and if a majority of posters also want that, then that's what we should do.

Moving LO8 to another current forum would not help the cause of LO8 nor O8 as a whole. LO8 is at least as close to PL/NLO8 than most (if not all) mixed games.
