Quite the dearth of LO8 training videos out there, from what I could find, let alone for short handed, which pretty much all online play is nowadays.

Most books I've found devote a whole page and a half to short handed play. Coming from a hardcore LHE background, I still feel pretty clueless once things get short.

Anyway, any ideas..? ty

Unless the site doesn't allow you to browse their whole library when not logged in, it appears they only offer two videos in their entire Omaha/Omaha8 library. That's hard to believe though.

I used to love their LHE videos back in the day.

Crush Live Poker has over 50 videos labeled "Crush Live O8 Poker," including one that analyzes a heads-up session and at least one that analyzes a short-handed session.

His (Bart Hanson's) approach is to provide commentary on a filmed session (some live, some online). Several years ago I watched his video on how to read the low and was appalled by the number of mistakes he made reading the low—like saying a particular hand was the fourth-best low when it was actually sixth best, or listing all the better low hands on a particular board and omitting one.

His analysis is often similar to the Omaha commentary I've seen on livestreams, in which commentators struggle to read all the hands accurately and make sense of multiway action in real time. Even with hole cards shown, they misperceive how many outs someone has or mis-state pot odds.

I'd be interested to hear if others have found these videos useful.

I was a member there last year and there were a lot of them. Some of them were specifically headsup. Death Donkey had some at high stakes too.

I’d reach out or do the free trial

I was debating about subscribing to CLP just for the O8 content. Glad I read your post. So you do not think it is worth it?

FWIW I've been playing in the highest level straight O8 games that are offered each summer at the WSOP ($75-$150 1/3rd kill), since 2007. I have also made 3 O8 WSOP championship final tables.

The first episode of our O8 series discusses the concept of "live lows" on boards containing 4 or more unpaired cards below an eight. This concept confuses a lot of people that are new to the game and don't understand counterfeiting. Is it possible that when discussing this concept I may have inadvertently skipped over the 5th nut low when discussing the order of lows off the cuff? Possibly. The same could be said for the many times I have done the live commentary for the final tables at the WSOP.

I guess it doesn't take much for the poster agamblerthen to be "appalled".

Anyway the video in question is here:

Thanks for sample link Bart. I am not sure if it is 'prime time' or I just have slow internet, but the frequent pauses makes me reluctant to subscribe.

That sounds like a bad internet connection if the video is pausing. I don't want to shill my site here too much but if you are new and you sub everyone gets the first 7 days free.

Here is a spot where I am describing how a live 4 low stacks up against wheel, a 46 and a 56 low.. that's the whole point of this first video if you have confusion on reading low boards with 4 or more cards that qualify present.

I am not a CLP subscriber (just an Omaha 8 forum lurker/occasional poster) but I clicked on the link and had no issues watching it without interruptions.

i find being able to label 3rd, 4th, 5th nut lows to be a trivial exercise. kind of the same thing as knowing what # the 24567 is in 2-7TD.

at the end of the day when you're clicking call, fold or raise you know how good your low is lol.

anyway, if anyone else has any reviews on the content i'd appreciate knowing how you felt about it. LO8 is something i always like learning more about.

So CLP is pretty much the only option for live Limit Omaha 8( 9 handed)?
What about full ring( live ) PLO8 and Big O?

I'll level with you, my knee jerk reaction was also that Bart might not be the person to learn o8 from. I'm a little glad that I was late to the discussion bc I mightve said some of the things you've said.

After reading I'll say briefly
a) as a semi seasoned player (idk, but semi regularly for around 10 years) when I think about it even playing a single omaha hand without missing details can be extremely difficult, so sorting through a mess of 15+ cards has to be tougher than it might seem on the surface.
b) Bart's credentials actually seem pretty damn strong, albeit not immediately apparent to the layman (me 4 seconds ago)
c) God damn as someone who's tried extensively to study o8 and found increasingly that it's basically 03 again and you're on your own to really just form your own ideas through playing/crunching/watching the best players. anything much above 'don't play A489 cause it's bad' drool stuff has to be worth the price of admission.

idk, might sub and poke my head around despite BH's clever not shill level

***also God damn Chianti mixed with autocorrect is a terrible combination for an already stupid person not to seem stupid on here. I tried to clean it up, but I'm too busy now in case I missed something else
