Hello all. I am not a Hyper player at all. I have dabbled, but just find them not to my liking, and hard to even min cash. This weekend I was railing a few of the bigger Hyper MTTs and watched ROBBED6969 bink the High Roller for $33,000 on Saturday and follow that up with another $7,000 win on Sunday in the Sunday Supersonic. Is this normal? I find it hard to imagine winning one of these, never mind both back to back. Just looking for general comments or insights, as my curiosity has been piqued. I was also wondering if he (she?) is a well known player in the O8 world? This is the first I have ever seen of them, and I was just curious if I should be railing them to improve my game.
Many thanks.

Hyper nlo8 MTT requires a lot of intricate skill and I think the player in question is simply a lot better than anyone else. Go rail him.

I am 100% not trolling. I have played a (very) few micro buy in hypers. I know very little about them but from what I have seen and studied, there is some skill, but an awful lot of luck and volatility. I have never watched, or heard of this player before, and found it amazing that he could win the two highest buy in hypers around on back to back days. If it is just total luck, I can accept that. If it is something else, then I would like to know what I should be focusing on to improve my game, and maybe give Hypers more of a shot in the future. That is all. No trolling.

Funny that only nitty bad (hyper) nlo8 players reacting on this. Trying to troll but hyper nlo8 is where i see people makes huge mistakes and where you can have big edge.
Ofcourse if somebody wins a toernement he always runs way above EV in that toernement.

Yes, this is on Pokerstars. The Sunday Supersonic $215 and another one off, $1,000 buy in Hyper. Seems whoever ROBBED6969 is, he is some kind of Hyper specialist. He took down a 12th place this week out of 189 runners. The comments in this thread have been very interesting, and quite divided. Some seem to think it is just a lucky run, while others think that there is a big edge to be gained in Hypers over players who play too tight. Once again, I am not trolling, I just find it very interesting how someone who I have never seen before comes out of nowhere and has a run like this, in one very specific "toernement" type. For the record, I tend to side with those who think there are some good edges to be had, the only problem I see is that it is impossible to put in any type of volume to negate any run bad. In such a volatile, high variance game, that would seem to be the kiss of death to many a bankroll. As always, I am here to learn from those who are better and more experienced than I am, so I would love to hear more opinions. I would also love to know who ROBBED6969 is. If anyone has an idea, or if he is on this site, it would be great to hear from you.

Even the best player in the world couldnt win these two big hyper tourneys in a row without a monster run.
Robbed6969 is for sure a good player, but I don't think these two results mean he is the best or much better than most regs on nlo8 stars players pool.

He is one of the best regulars, but for relevant sample statistics one could check for example 82 buy-in hyper results. I know at least one regular with better results. Bottom line of high low players in statistics that take all games in the consideration will be dominated by yearly high buyin WCOOP, SCOOP and TCOOP results and thus some rigor is needed when analyzing results.
