Just wondering how people play a spot like this in
a tournament. Was close to money but I'm super short
and probably last.

9BB maximum.

minR from a chip leader,, call from another shortie,
I have AK62 (1 suit King hi).

Is this a rejam this short, and is it better in this plo8 game to
take flops and only reshove absolutly premiums.

It's hard to provide a great answer without more information on hero position, stack sizes, and context on whether hero can fold his way into the money.

Critically, does hero cover other short stack?

But jamming is probably correct. Ak2 is too powerful and its not clear we have much time to wait for a better spot. Its not an ideal fit-or-fold type hand either, so we often do better protecting our equity bu guaranteeing we see a river.

I think I mentioned above, I was last in the tournament I was pretty sure.
The original raiser ended up having A993 which i'm only
55% against, part of the reason I asked.

But he could have other hands that i'm a bigger favorite over.
I think I agree with you assessment. I probably can't wait
for a better spot. I was definately too far to fold my way to the money.

Thanks GL

55-45 advantage in this game is huge.

agreed. its a good spot to jam especially being so far from money and having AK2. I would have also jammed. Going forward, how can you build your stack better? Are you reviewing top hands for opening under specific positions? How did you fair in the tournament?

Good luck!

I think we can take a flop and evaluate.

This also allows us to bet and steal some flops, like 9-9-7, Q-10-4, J-J-9, etc.

If you're proposing steals on these textures, what boards are we check-folding on (if at all given the situation we're now in)?

are there antes this is important as well... yes some sites have antes in plo8 tourneys... if antes that def tips the scales to shove.

Most flops containing a deuce we are check folding.

most low flops with an ace, like A-3-8, or even a-5-10 we find a fold. Looking for a flop we are drawing to low nuts or unlikely it hit anyone for a steal.

I would discount top pair top kicker as a hand to continue with if there are low draws.

Not gambling my tournament life for a non nut half.

Smudger, what you are saying makes very little sense. Why would such a high equity hand be a good candidate to do the things you suggest? (I also think these things are close to nonsensical, but that's another issue.) Just rip this in to push equity and make your moves with hands that have less raw pre-flop equity, and more equity on the boards you describe.

And dear god, don't take a flop with AK62 to fold on AT5 with SPR=1.

in plo8 tourneys i prefer to be the first open, not the caller or reshove, as call frequency from others that have already put money in the pot is usually quite high... Id rather make them call me. risk adverse my approach is.

You are folding AK26 on an A38 or A5T flop?

Is this a level?
