Home game online, 8 handed, 1/2 blinds, 100 buyin...players are very loose and don't really understand being freerolled, getting quartered, value of wraps etc....

I'm dealt A3KQ on button, suited K. I raise to 14 on the button (effective stacks only about 60...I'm short stacked).

Villian, LAG and maniac on tilt, calls as in BB does one other limper.

Flop: 6JQ, rainbow.

Checked to me, I shove for $40+.

Villain snaps with A210J, with two backdoor flushes (though I'm not sure he was aware of them.

Seems like hand played itself...just checking to see if anyone did anything really silly (which is hard when short stacked).

Villain*

You didn't mention the number of limpers. I think I'd just shove it pre.

Probably 2-4...it's a very loose and passive game preflop...no one likes to fold for two bucks!

$14 was pot (in NL I would have shoved),

I’m not sure what raising without a nutted hand achieves if you’re short and everyone calls anyways.

I’d oblige the limp call strategy on the btn and assess flop in position

This seems like a perfect opportunity to pile turn if blank or increased equity.

You’re effectively screwed against all calling hands, hoping one pair holds up is a little ambitious.

Your hand is non nut low and very difficult to make nut high.

In sum - don’t raise without having a plan for flop. What if it came 87Q. You’re toast.

You raise in a loose game because people will call with 277J...and you want these players in.

Generally, people will raise with A2xx hands, so if it's limped to me, my A3 is generally good...just so happened that BB had A2 here, not that it mattered.

Playing nut hands is much more important when you're deep stacked.

How am I screwed against calling hand, when I was 60/40 on flop, and better than 80/20 on river against villian?

Ah. In that case, I play it the same and don't sacrifice a single thought to this hand afterwards. Standard.

9 came on turn, 2 on river giving my opponent two pair and the pot.

Don't know why, but it always feels worse when you lose to a out like that rather than player hitting trips or straight!

Looks pretty standard, we can go a little smaller pre if we want.
