hi,

After learning PLO recently, I just started playing some H/L this morning.

Couple hands I played:

Overlimped MP w/ A32T

5ways limped to flop (5bbs). K24.

X,X,X, Hero 3.5bbs, SB called, others fold.

3 V donks 7bbs, Hero call.

4 V donks 13bs, Hero raise to 52bbs.

EP raises 4.5bbs (there was a guy who posted BB out of turn), Hero defends BB w/A62T. ??? should be calling this?

733 goes X/X.

6 OTT Hero X, V 70% pot, Hero XR pot, V call.

5 Hero pots

1) I'd raise pre 100% of the time, just way too strong hand to overlimp in a presumably soft game. Post I'd just fold turn, you have so many stronger hands here that can continue. River bluff just bad, you are not blocking A5 really and that's a big part of his range (and he's always calling with it). Just saying that 23-blockers are moot.

2) OK I think, though you are making it expensive for yourself when he happens to have you quartered.

To be fair on hand 2 sometimes we are the one getting 3/4ths (not likely but possible).

Maybe as played we can knock him off 3's full w/ no or bad low? like AT53? I think I'm okay with this line, though I'd rather just check and snap call any river bet.

h1 agreed the bluff was spew, looking at it now, idk what I was thinking.

why folding turn? at this point in the hand we are very likely to win the low at least, right?

h2 since I'm unfamiliar with PLO8, I guess I don't know which player has a range advantage on this board ( I thought it was Hero)?. good to see my line is ok.

You don't have a low. You are drawing very very slim against his value range.

Depends how often villain checks nld on the flop. In general pf-raiser has a range advantage vs BB defender on a low board. BB has more nutty hands on high boards.

These sorts of bluffs (hand 1) are generally terrible plays in O8. Limping or raising are both fine depending on the players in the game. Not only do I fold the turn, I check the flop as well, and might fold there too.

Hand 2 is OK as a bluff I guess. Preflop the call is OK depending on villain range, usually I'd call. After that this is a very aggressive play that might or might not be profitable. Against many people you're simply getting quartered. In general I think you're overvaluing the nut low, especially when hold A2 in this situation. The nut low is shared very often. Yes, occasionally you will be the one quartering someone here, but in general I would avoid this constant aggression in a split pot game without a better 2 way hand.
