Well, the issue was more that you were being a parrot saying the same obvious things over and over again. Also, I didn't ask you to reply. I asked you to try to understand the things others said.

I am not saying you need to play the nuts, but against 4 player if you only have 2 pair on that board, it is dangerous to put more money in.

So maybe you can talk me through the equity and equity denial? From my quick estimate he has 3 cards he wants, the 9H gives him the nut high and the j or 8 gives him a very strong high.so that is 5 cards that he can hit and be confident he is at least winning the high.

The issue is that if he doesn't hit those cards pretty much every other card is bad for his hand as it makes higher 2 pairs, sets possible and lots of straights or higher flushes. Also he has no low draw.

So perhaps you can tell me the equity he has in the hand.

Below is strategy from a book I have

'When 2 low cards hit the flop, the game becomes centered around the low. High only hands become more suspect, though you should still play a hand like top set and you can still draw for a hand like nut flush or a big draw such as KQJT on a 9 8 3 board. You should slow down if you get raised and you should fold if a low hits the turn as you are likely getting free rolled'.

That is poker advice from pot limit omaha, the big play. Which is one of the most popular strategy books on plo8.
Looking at the advice from the book, we should fold our hand as our high is not that strong against 2 players and our draw for the high is weak.

I'll just jump in to say that there are a lot of better places to really learn the game than that book. It's okay for the very basics but can't really get anyone beyond that. I say this as a friend of Jeff's for over 10 years who helped him a bit with editing his next book series.

What book do you recommend? I feel confident in my play and I've cashed in 12/14 MTT that I have played in sice focusing on plo8 tournaments but I am always eager to learn.

It sounds like you need a grounding in poker fundamentals like the concept of equity. I'm not making any arguments regarding this particular hand, just in flaws of how to think about poker. I'm not sure specifically what I would recommend, but I'll just say that training sites are a much more valuable resource than books these days

Thanks to everyone on their thoughts regarding the hand, much appreciated.

Upon being checked to us, we decided to lead for 200 (which in hindsight, is obviously questionable) and received folds from all players. This was chosen to deny equity to weak limps. Hero was very surprised to get 100% of the folds.

Even though our play took down the pot, discussions like this open thoughts to how a winning hand is played may not be correct.

By "next" by the way, I mean the one that came after "big play strategy", not something upcoming.

Well, all the non-beginners here said it's tempting to bet. Even if it's a mistake, it's certainly nothing major.

I disagree. I think this hand is a losing hand for us. I don't see any equity in a hand where we have only put our bb in on a dangerous board with a weak high, no low against 4 other players.

What part of "I'm not making any arguments regarding this particular hand" was unclear? I'm trying to give you some general advice and you keep talking about this same damn hand. I'm done here.
